RE: Geneva 2012: Bentley EXP 9 F
Discussion
If a Range Rover and a Continental GT got pissed and had a one night stand, this abomination would be the bd lovechild of that union.
I know all of the companies are doing anything for the Chinese/Middle Eastern money, but whoring themselves and their histories feels so very, very wrong.
From Blower to this.........

- EDIT* with apologies to Kazino who's post I just read. Great minds and all that.....

I don't mind the idea of a Bentley SUV. In fact, with the right execution, it could be a truly fabulous way to travel. The interior of the concept has this right (BTW, the screen above the climate controls folds away into the dash when not in use, according to other articles floating around).
The rear view isn't great, but with tweaking could be made passable. The front is fine, aside from the silly vents in the bumper with the DRL's running around them. The profile is HORRIFIC.
It is entirely proportionally wrong towards the rear end. As the poster above me pointed out, it looks like it's running far too high at the front compared to the rear as a result. The rear 'haunch' a la Conti GT is horrendous, as is the Austin Maxi DLO, and if you are going to have those styling details, don't then introduce a sloping roofline! Between those 3 details, that is what is causing the horrible discord between front and rear in profile. It's just lunacy. And that spoiler is tragic.
Of course, given that this is Herr Durheimer's pet project, this will probably go into production unchanged. Shame.

What they have created is dog awful. Very much an SUV for the sake of an SUV, and is a woeful pastiche of all sorts so appears very lazily executed. Poor show Bentley.
They should have expanded on the Shooting Brake concept they had which is actually pretty cool and something that would have differentiated it from the crowd.
A 4 door, pumped up ala Audi Allroad version of this? Yes please!

You know how some tragic individuals already stick Bentley badges on their Chrysler 300Cs? They'd love an estate version. I have to say I think the reaction to the EXP 9 F is a bit exaggerated. Modern premium 4x4s are, by definition, a bit vulgar. It's not as if a Range Rover Sport is a paragon of good taste when it comes to exterior styling. And the current Bentley saloons have more than their fair share of followers among Premiership footballers and Russian Oligarchs too.
