That is a nice car but its neither a 986S or a Z3M in terms of pace and handling. Pretty quick but not in the same league as the other two.

It'll be as quick as the Boxster in a straight line.

That's what I thought, I purposely picked the 3.0Si as it's probably the only one that comes close.

I had these 2 a couple of months back.

The Boxster S cost me 10 grand 54 plate, 56000 miles, Bose and loads of extras.

M3 cost £9000, with 70000 miles, in terms of performance and build quality the M3 wins hands down.
The Porsche is a smooth power delivery and fantastic handling, but it wouldnt see which way the M3 went given a straight road.

If you don't mind, can you compare/contrast with regards to running costs (servicing, tyres, etc)

I realise it's got nothing to do with the drive, but if you're planning a Euro trip or two, bear in mind that with two boots, the Boxster can swallow a terrific amount of luggage.

Good point re luggage. The Z3 has a small boot (especially with the CD player). People boast about how much they have managed to carry, but it is more about planning what to carry and vacuum-packing your underpants!!!

I used them to do an A road 40 mile round trip to work. Both are great to drive.
Boxster about 33MPG, M3 about 29MPG. Less when enthusiastic, drops to 23 in M3 and 27 in Boxster.

Insurance I had different amounts of NCB as the Boxster was a second car. I paid £450 for the M3 (8 NCB) £600 for the Boxster (2 NCB).

Cost of parts was a big difference, with the M3 being far more expensive. For instance I paid around £100 for front Pagid discs for the Boxster, the M3 are around £230.
I found far more choices of cheaper parts for the Boxster.
Tyres are very expensive for decent ones on both. Porsche had bigger tyres on.
I use an Indy so servicing is reasonable, but both Porcshe and BMW will pull your pants down.
Sold them both now, M3 was last to go Saturday.

I went through this approx 6months ago.

TBH I thought the porker lacked occasion, pretty boring overall.

The Z3M was pretty ace until I started up a Chimaera.

I ended up with a Chimaera.

Could you get a set of golf clubs into the Z3MR?
Passenger seat is the place for your golf clubs (as I found out AFTER buying the car).

Strikes the Z3MR off the list.
You've got it all wrong Gaz. Just quit playing golf and you don't have to worry about where to put the clubs. :-)

Not for the forseeable mate. Need a house with a big garage before I can start any of that again. Back in a shirt and tie for the mean time (oh the shame).
