I think this car will be great! Its light, not too powerful and much cheaper than the likes of the DS3. WHo needs 220 BHP? 180 is enough in a car weighing 1100 or so KG. The Polo GTI has 180 BHP and is quite rapid, so I dont see whats wrong with the Fiesta just having 180. With the Focus ST coming out soon, theres no way Ford would want their Fiesta snapping at the heels of their main hot hatch.
This car has been wayyyyy too long in arriving....last one was end of sale 2008, my dad has a 58 plate one.
The Zetec S was the only option, most ppl looking to replace or buy another got fed up of waiting and bought other cars....VXR corsa, cooper S, polo GTI, clio 197/200 and a much better car the corsa is and still will be.
This looks nothing more than a zetec S with bling. (i'm sure i'm wrong...or hope so)
if its £18K then the latest corsa VXR despite Top Gear Comments on price, is listed at £18999 and has a proper LSD, and Brembo Brakes, and some trick new suspension setup, that would be my first choice.
I've no idea why its taken ford this long to get this car ready.....its makes me think of the oh so long time between the last escort cossie (1996/7) and the new focus Rs (back in 2002)ppl got sick of waiting then....and ford ditched the cosworth link, and name, biggest mistake they ever made. RS cars will never be a cossie. End. The only Ford I'd ever buy.

bought a 55 plate, 1 year old, for £10500, with some options. had 11K on clock.
so 10K new is BS!

Nah. The real price will likely be a lot less than list if past experience is anything to go by. Looks like a lot of fun and probably much better made than the equivalent Renault. The new Cliosport is reputed to have 220bhp so it should be much quicker.

Ford dealers are known for being open to haggling on prices for new cars though, so 18k is only really a rough guide. I've heard stories of ST220s (Back when they were new) going for 17k brand new fully loaded. Price also isn't far off that of it's rivals, and the power output is only a remap and decat away from matching or bettering it as well.
