I knew he was there, I knew he was going fast, and I also knew that there was plenty of room yet I wanted to get past the car in lane 2. I'd hoped he'd be happy to slow down, you know, to a speed that's less than double what's permissible by law, without blowing his top. I was wrong hehe
So... with all of the above in mind, you decided to cut across his bow anyway? And you wonder why he went mental?

No, read what I wrote. There was plenty of room. He was a speck in my mirror, just advancing quickly. I pulled out to overtake, as you do. I caused him no more convenience than had he met another car that was already in lane 3 and had to slow down as a result.

Well, without witnessing what happened myself, I can only give you the benefit of the doubt.

But my moral code is that you have every right to do whatever you want to endanger yourself, and no right to ever endanger anyone else.

That goes back to a post in the 'knob' thread, people see someone about to make a manoeuvre and either speed up or get in your blind spot just so they can have a confrontation.
Just ignore people like that, he must have for out of bed the wrong way.
I have a friend who used to do this. If somebody pulled out of a junction ahead of him (with him being slightly too close) instead of gently backing off like a normal person he would floor it then brake hard behind them, then beep his horn and flash... Then rant about impatient drivers pulling out on him.

He really, really, really did not like it when I told him he drives like a tt and there was no need.

Yes, he is a bellend.

Oh I agree, I'd never intentionally try to harm anyone, if he was closer then of course I'd have waited. He just took a disproportionate amount of offence to the fact I "got in his way". Never mind the fact there was a load of traffic infront of me..

I just don't get it. Its almost like a contradiction, they're rioting about someones poor driving with even worse poor driving!!

My new years resolution doesn't allow me to get involved in this sort of behaviour -

Maybe that's what the problem was... you had nowhere to go, but he was still able to progress at a decent rate until you blocked him?

OK, so no-one died, and it would have been an over-reaction to go "mental" but perhaps that is the source of his irritation.

The thing is, if it wasn't me, it'd have been the car ahead of me in lane 3 anyway! Oh well. I'm sure he'll calm down when the next person he confronts has a worse temper than him and side swipes him off his bike. There are, after all, plenty of nutters driving around who would try and cause harm to someone frown

yes He would also block people wanting to change lanes and kick off.

For example, he's in l2 on the m'way. Car in l1 approaching a lorry, car indicated to move into l2. He would carry on at his speed and hold the driver in l1 (he could easily back off the pedal to give them space) as you would expect, car pulls out anyway and cuts him up.

Follows fits of horn and lights and screams of impatience and how the car should have waited until he passed...

Once again, I told him he could just back off the pedal... Apparently he shouldn't have to if people knew how to drive hehe

Just look at the statistics. Bike riders are 35 times more likely to die in an RTA than a car driver. The question is whether this is down to speed / poor riding skills or the lack of vision / anticipation of car drivers?

Its a lack of side impact bars and crumple zones on a bike.
