Am I right in thinking there were only 2 of these in the uk? Or was it on 2 built worldwide?

They were a homolgation cheat, a very successful one at that!

Blue chip investment I'd say & a very smart move

this is parked just round the corner from me. I think I'm right in saying Chris Evans doesn't actually own it outright. It's apparently owned by Joe Macari Cars, and Chris Evans has a stake in it/the company and can use it whenver he likes.

It's always a slow news day with the DM.
Surely any one of the following would be worthy of page space

Cameron possible 100year Govt bond back to ww2 style
Fukushima where are we now
Drought what can you do to do your bit
Build up to budget
NHS debate
Dept for work and pensions what should we do
Looking into the 2030's and 2060's which is where it is predicted the UK will be bankrupt and why are the politicians not talking about this instead of the 5 year plans only we need a 50 year plan which means whoever is in power would have to do the exact same thing else we are bust - or live on a hope that somehow growth will swallow up all this problem. Head in sand moment.

What about the nationalised banks cutting more jobs
Why don't they start a campaign to encourage buying British and highlight how it benefits us as a nation.

Dead easy. Instead they do this which is a big dig at a very charitable person.
If his hobby was say phone hacking then fair enough why give all the public knowledge of his possessions especially the sort who see this as an opportunity for theft??

Chris Evans kind of wears his heart on his sleeve, he enjoys cars and isn't evasive about his success, he celebrates it and is happy to share, like the driving prizes he does for.Children in need. He doesn't seem bigheaded, down to earth and realistic.

We need more like him and less like the billionaire heads of certain companies who squirel cash away from the UK whether they need it or not.

I don't know him, its just an impression but I can't day I have ever really heard a bad word about him, I mean, lending James May that Defeating, must be a bit mad, not really, we all got a flavour of what it was like rather than it being hermetically sealed in a vault somewhere.

Typical Daily Mail bks, 'look at what your license fee is costing you!' when he actually made most of his money elsewhere. But let's not let the facts get in the way of a bit of Daily Mail righteous indignation directed at a successful chap who's not a wker.

I really despise that 'news' paper and and the st-stirring it does. Half of the problem with attitudes today can be pretty much directed at the sort of social engineering they and others like them do. Shame we can't get them all shut down really... I suspect the UK would be a more pleasant place with far less unwarranted bitterness.

Can you imagine trying to work knowing what is waiting for you on the street outside!
I would be out of the door like a bolt of lightening.

Anyone who criticises Chris is just jealous, plain and simple.

He sold the Cali to pay for the GTO. He gots his trousers pulled down over that car as everyone said buy it and then when he came to sell it the same Ferrari 'experts' all said it wasnt worth the money as it didnt have its original engine. So I dont think as some people have stated that his car buying is a revenue stream - more likely, like the rest of us, he is in it for mthe love of cars and his hobby actually costs him alot of money. His GTO has been at Ferrari for nearly 18 months getting fully rebuilt so it gets its Classiche certification - 18 months of factory labour cant be an inexpensive thing.
I say fair play to him. Especially as he's organising Carfest and its not that far from me!! smile

'Car enthusiast Chris Evans had fellow petrolheads green with envy'

Well the DM got something right.

Why do we have to knock success in this country? If this America, the article, if it even made the press, would have a completely different tone to the article.

Chris Evans has worked hard, he admits he has had some luck on the way, and is now enjoying the fruits of his labour. Good on him and all those are it willing to take the risks in life.

Daily Mail readers really get my blood pressure sky high - there's some tosser in the comments complaining about him buying the car "while the majority have to use credit cards to buy food".

That paper is such utter drivel.

Carol Vorderman's arse is looking quite good though smile

It's the same type of person that would shout abuse at a tv baddie in the street. It's the only way some people can feel good about themselves.

How do you know he isn't on here, at the very least browsing? An awful lot of famous people are well aware of the wkfest that occurs when someone that people have heard of pops up online (just look at the circle jerk that is twitter).

fking daily mail tts pandering to people who have no concept of money.
Of course Evans' cash comes from his radio show. None of his wealth is from his production company, or any other work he has done. It's ALL hardworking single mums benefit cutrs, straight into his pockets so he can run his "gas guzzling" car.

If I could magically remove the anti sucess crap from this country, I would. Insatead, I'll just sit in a huff with slowly simmering piss.

Life is slightly different, however, for the BBC's well-paid personalities.
Yeah all his money came from the BBC didn't it?
He sold his stake in Virgin Radio for £85m a few years ago
I used to work with Chris, about 20 years ago, and you could see back then that he would make it big.

I bumped into him at a Soho night club years later just after he had sold his Virgin stake.

"How are you Croyde?" he said "You alright?"

"I'm alright Chris" I replied "But not as alright as you"

We laughed and then had far too many drinks biggrin
