The 325iS 2.7 and 333i are, I gather, completely different animals to the M3 and are much more likely to be like the Alpinas and Hartge 6 cyl conversions. The iS even got its engine from Hartge.
The engine is from Alpina, 2.7 C2 engine, and a lovely sounding motor it is to.
Sorry, my mistake.

For my money, I'd skip the M3 altogether and buy a nice 325i coupe with that sweet baby six.

Had the chance of getting one about 10/12 years ago, was an awesome car - I thought because it wasn't an M3 it would be worthless in LHD but now they're (if you can find one) more expensive than most M3s.

Nice as those are, I'd have to pick the Sport Evo given the choice of the 2 as it just seems to have more of the original M3 'flavour' to me and is practically as quick. Be nice to have both

Maybe thats not the fault of the car and more about your lack of driving ability. ;-)

I don't have any issues with driving left hand drive and never have. The only minor gripe would be overtaking on b roads. Big deal.

I bought mine after owning a string of VW's and I've had it about 4 years now. A well sorted one is such an amazing drive being extremely neutral and light on its feet with very mild oversteer at the limit which is so easy to control. It's an amazing experience.
Beware cheap examples - you will spend more than you'd really wish to and they obviously wont drive like the reviews descibe for obvious reasons. Rust is a major issue and unfortunately a lot of the prone are hidden under cowels or underneath the car.

Last benefit of restoring one of these (rather than an Audi Quattro or Lancia delta- 2 other cars I considered) is that 90% of the parts are still available from the dealer.

For anyone looking at getting one of these, one of the best modifications is the carbon airbox. It transforms the character of the car. YouTube it for videos... smile

Not all.....

Plus there's quite a few Birds rhd conversions - they're a bit down on power because of the exhaust and run a standard E30 PAS rack which is slightly 'slower' ratio ( 'faster' ones are available now though )

Had 3 of these over the years absolutely love them.....sold a 50k mile 2.5 evo for 12k about 12 years ago....crazy. The guy I sold it to lives 10 miles down the road and still has it....he's only done 5k over that time...would love it back but I think he probably is well switched on to what it's worth now.

The last one I bought was 2 years ago...stunning condition with 40k miles. Took a chance flying down to london based on the guys decription and luckily he was bang on. Should have kept it the way prices have continued to go frown
