I'd ignore him. He's doing a very bad impression of a troll.

A great video - just watched it again.

Having spec'd one up - hmm. If I were after "new" and had to have "new" then I'd be very tempted to start saving... however, the point made earlier about a 2-year old 997 has merit. Mind you, if you were in that mind set, then £60k gets all sorts of vehicles that are "better". But new.. yes, new, it's lovely.

Underpowered, really??!

Personally, I think it sounds like a perfect handling/grip(on 19s)/power balance

I think it looks great, albeit I do drive an MX5 which doesn't look great but it is pretty damn fun to drive! And on the manly stakes, whenever the lads bring up the "fact" that I drive a girls car, I just remind them that they're single and that my missus is a professional model smile

The design of this car hasn't moved on since the original; it looks worse.
Really? I don't agree, and I owned an early Boxster myself.

Best looking Boxster by far! Don't understand some of these idiotic comments unless people are just looking to start arguments. What's with the guy going on about an MR2 when he has an Audi A3...

Imagine the new Cayman will also look fantastic!

As a new 911 convertible vs Boxster, I'd take the Boxster and pocket the rest. However, I'd just get a 2nd hand 911 Convertible.

I have a sneaky suspicion that the new Cayman S is going to out-911 the 911 considerably.

They're clearly trying to move the 911 upmarket though, so the Cayman can easily fill the boots left behind.

It has over 300BHP! Come on now...

But I really, really want one. I was considering a Cayman R as my next car but now I need one of these.

Who is "Drive" that Chris says he is doing the video with?

You are getting paid too much! I remember when you were looking for a grad job. Goodness, I thought I worked in a lucrative industry...must try harder.

I'm a porsche fan but I've never been a fan of the styling. This, however, I like very, very much! The original boxter was never a real looker but it still sold like hot cakes. This, looking like that, will sell a whole lot beter even. I think this will steal a lot of sales from the Cayman/911.

I totally agree about the mini Carrera GT looks and men overlooking the 'slightly feminine' image these cars rightly or wrongly have for this new version.

Bleh, is alright, the steering is a bother and I tend to agree that @ 40k with a reasonable spec it would be extremely attractive. as it is I think I'll wait to see what happens with the Cayman.

If they can do this good a job on the boxter....

As an afterthought is it going to be possible to sort the steering out ? ie rip out the eletricamathingy and replaye with proper gubbins ?

In my experience the majority of people who knocked the Boxster were normally complete and utter cocks who clearly knew everything about cars with their Vectra etc. Spyders one of the best cars I've driven and that's after 2 exiges and a Noble 3R.

He sells it well. I had a ride in a newish 987 last year and that was fantastic, looking forward to seeing what this drives like. Definitely tempted by a Boxster next year.

A little unusual I realise, but Chris is doing the video reviews for a US based Youtube only channel called "Drive." He writes exclusively for PistonHeads, so you'll always get a little bit of back story to the video here when it goes up on a Wednesday evening, and any accompanying longer reviews will appear exclusively here.
