I would skip the 1987 and go straight to the Clio 182. They're surprisingly quick, balanced and won't cost anywhere as much in tyres, brakes and maintenance.

RX8 is lovely but I've never ever seen one out on a Trackday. I suspect there is a reason for that. Price of rear tyres would be a starter...

RX8 tyres aren't that expensive, 140-150 for the oem bridgestones but plenty of decent tyres for 100ea.

R3 I think has 19 in wheels though so might be more.
