Mods please move this if it is in the wrong section.

Ok I know it is my fault, quotes are 250 + VAT and more from a local garages.

Do I have to tell them and get it done at the approved garage and it is a hell if a lot more?

I have never had a company car before, and I really didnt want one. I live in an inner city area and have already had the car vandalised. I am still in my probation period, so this is the second thing and frankly I am stting myself, but dont really have the dosh.

Any thoughts from the Phers would be gratefully received.

Shouldn't worry too much over it - these things happen. Look at most company cars and they'll invariably have some dings and scuffs after a while - especially if used by a number of different staff. The company insurance should cover it although sometimes they may leave it until it is near the end of its term/lease and get all the work done together before handing it back/selling it on.

Is it a pool car or a car made available to you personally? Either way should be covered by company/fleet insurance. Wouldn't be much point in having a company car and then being forced to arrange your own insurance confused

I used to run one of the largest company car fleets in the UK. We had a 3 strikes policy. One fault incident in a 3 year period, fair enough. 2 was a warning and 3 you would lose the car.

Read your contract carefully...

I had some bumper damage smart repaired via the company on my car.

When I came to running my own car this was treated as a fault claim. Depends upon how long you intend to run the car for though. I'd been in my cc scheme for 7 years so lost my previous NCD.

Naive as this may sound, honesty is the best policy. If you get a repair done without the company's knowledge and it's not up to much, what would you say if it's picked up at a later date?

To go against what i just said, you can always say that you found the car like it (unless there is another party involved) wink

If you fail your probation for this, its not the sort of company i would want to work for.

Accidents happen. You should pass or fail your probation based on your performance to do your job.
