Just not the BMW type, which can safely be ignored as just a fancy word meaning estate - a bit like "Villas" when applied to a large scale mass housing development.
Not quite. It wasn't always that way. Here's an expensive-but-well-looked-after 1970's BMW 2000 Touring for sale at the moment at 4 Star Classics:Which isn't exactly exotic but is certainly a RWD hatch. Interesting how we now have the 3GT on the way- there's very little that hasn't been tried before in some form.

Available with a 5.0 V8 or an straight 6, lots of tuning options including making them handle.
I know you always post large capacity Yank cars no matter what the topic's about but fishing these out for discussion is quite an achievement, even for you! (Meant in good humour, 300.)

Some do some don't.Most have boots but some are hatchbacks.
Basically the short ugly ones are hatchbacks and the long pretty ones are coupes.
