its the car i want and could realistically afford to own once the badge destroys its 50k price tag, but also the car i could never justify owning. i tried to buy the Monaro variant before and mrs tucks, for want of a better phrase, "shat bricks".
as a PR tool to try and change the image of vaux, the whole Holden cross over range has worked well imo(if you ignore everyone saying "its not really a vauxhall though, is it")

Felicia Fun anyone?
Ha ha - haven't seen one of those in ages - complete with the open air pull out back seats with stitched frogs - mental and fab. Now there's a thought - 75hp plays 461 mind. Imagine your ute with pull out open air bulkead seats. That could be the most fun you could have as a seatbelted passenger.

God I'd love one of these. Totally mental, but that combo of slightly odd pick-up shape and a big shouty V8 just work. I'd probably have one in blue rather than yellow, but that's about it.

According to the VXR8 website you can get all three guises of the VXR8 here in the uk you just need to contact your dealer.I don't know how true that is though.

Fifty fookin' grand!?

They're having a laugh.....in Australia the SS ute is about 15k* with same engine but slightly less power and other refinements....but it is a ute, so who cares....why don't they sell the SS over here rather than just the Maloo.

I love it to bits, but not at that price!

*well it was a few years back when I was looking at getting one

I wonder how many people would actually buy one with their 50k...

Not many I suspect.
Well that's my point. To all the people saying "screw the pricetag" - ask yourselves if you would buy it if you had that money for a car? If you want something like this why would you not just spend 18k on an LS3 version from a couple of years ago?! FIFTY GRAND!!

Completely respect that these are cool and a cultural car in Oz, can see why and fair play to em, but f**k me that's an offensive car to look at.

The old, smoother Monaro ute, that was a looker. Everything about that is horrible, the wheels are a joke. To be fair I think the only bit I like is the fact its a ute! The most recent Monaro is a terrible looking car.

Ill have this thanks;

Buy one in Oz, they are Aus$47500 (31500ish)for the SSV then you have 20000 to either drive it or ship it back.

It's taking the proverbial even down under - from recollection the same car down under would set you back about $65-70k AUD.
The SS Ute you mention is about $40k AUD = 26.5k UK if my sums are correct.

Don't forget kids, if you're VAT registered, it's only 40k wink

Another point to note is that nobody has yet mentionned what kind of secondhand abused supercar one can buy for the same money. Pistonhead whingers must be having a day off.
