Prompted by the rx8 VAG 20v motor thread I got to wondering about some interesting engine swaps.

A while back I saw a Porsche 944 with a Rover V8, but other engines I thought may be of interest to go into a 944 would be:

Subaru boxer turbo
VAG 20v turbo (should be pretty straightforward?)

So, what car / engine combination would you go for? (without huge modifications e.g. LS6 into a mini smile)
Renegade Hybrids in the US put Chevy v8s in 944 and 928s...

and 911s whistle

My cousin has put a Suzuki Cappuccino engine in an Axiam. The Axiam had a 500cc two cylinder diesel originally, so the Cappuccino engine fitted perfectly. Power-to-weight is much improved compared to the donor Cappuccino...

And he has a second Axiam which is planned is to be the new home for a Kawasaki 600 engine, so a bike engined micro car/quadricycle
The original master plan was to fit a Mazda rotary and convert it to rear wheel drive...nuts

6 cylinder diesel engine from a Dennis truck into an R32 Skyline GTR. The engine's are very similar in size, and 1000bhp+ is achievable from it. Just purely to be different.
I'm not saying you are wrong, but I'm very susprised by that !

do you have a link to some info about that I would be interested to have a nose smile

I was following a prius the other day and was thinking how much I would love to put something like a V8 in to one of them and have a green peace sticker of the sort in the rear window.

Or one better has anybody ever actually modified a prius out of principle?
The interesting thing about this is that the CO2 rating would not need to be changed on the V5, so you could have whatever engine you wanted and pay virtually no VED!

There are a few drag Insights and Prius in the states.

Actually makes a good base for a dragster as it's lightweight and aerodynamic. You could even use hybrid power to beat any potential turbo-lag problems!

What I've always wanted to do was find a Fiat 600 Multipla shell and modernise it all and fit a bike engine. So I would be left with a very innovative 6 seat MPV, 50 cm longer than the original Mini that be perfectly capable of everyday life.

Ps: It's a shame not many people know about this car as it had 'fold into the floor' seats 50 odd years before the Vauxhall Zafira

There's a Mk1 Escort with a Volvo T5 lump in it elsewhere on the forum. I'd love a group 4 Mk2 with a T5 lump - quattro five pot soundtrack with RWD RS handling...

A lot cheaper and torquier than a Millington engine too!

E46 M3 engine in a GKD please, although thats not really an engine swap as it is a kit car designed to take BMW straight 6's.

I was thinking it might be fun to put the turbocharged engine from a 135i or 335i into a 1 series hatch, and then re-map it...

I'll second the eco-wagon with stupid engine concept.

A Prious with a Viper engine would be fun.

How wouldn't you need to pay the excess VED. Surely if you informed the DVLA they would produce a new V5.

Ive never done an engine swap so Im curious.

I think cars are taxed on their original category, despite any modifications.
