135bhp K series into a metro GTI. Plug and play? Herd it's one of the easiest swaps going. Must be brilliant in the already lively GTI.

Dream swap? E60 M5 into an E30, it's on youtube, totally jelous.

Saab 2.3 turbo b series engine into a Vauxhall Omega B, just for sts and giggles. Toyota 3s-gte engine into a Lotus Excel. Mentioned before Rover T series turbo into a Disco 1. T16 engine into a Citroen Berlingo. Renault 197/200 engine into k12 Nissan Micra. Renault Scenic with Megane 225 turbo engine. Volvo 340 with a T5 in. And last but not least some kind of kit car with a diesel engine e.g. A Midas Cortez with a 1.5d metro/106/saxo engine with bosch pump and using the local fast food chains as filling stations! (sorry for the lack of paragraphs but mr nokia neglected to allow me to use them on forum based text writing!)

Was my dream too frown

Unfortunately the government recalled all the spaz chariots and they were ordered to be destroyed and made illegal on the roads in the UK. My friend had one in his field for years and it had the Villiers 500cc motorcylce engine that had 5 forward gears, and by using an idler, also had 5 reverse gears too! I made 45mph in reverse in a field as clocked by my mate although I very nearly lost it laugh

He was going to sell it to me but the DVLA upon asking for chassis numbers immediately asked for it to be scrapped as the vehicles were being replaced under a government iniative. A Honda CBR engine would have fitted the job perfectly but sadly these vehicles are now only fit for museum pieces. Since age 12 I have always longed to tunr this into a street sleeper. Sadly my wish has come true but not in the way I had thought back in the day!

RIP Blue Spaz Wagon. You are lost but not forgotton smile

At one of the Birkett Relays The Help for Heroes team had a VVC equipped Metro along with a 100bhp Imp and Reliant SST with highly tweaked Silvia turbo engine. All three were very fast and a great bunch of people.

I was following a prius the other day and was thinking how much I would love to put something like a V8 in to one of them and have a green peace sticker of the sort in the rear window.

Or one better has anybody ever actually modified a prius out of principle?
The interesting thing about this is that the CO2 rating would not need to be changed on the V5, so you could have whatever engine you wanted and pay virtually no VED!

There are a few drag Insights and Prius in the states.

Actually makes a good base for a dragster as it's lightweight and aerodynamic. You could even use hybrid power to beat any potential turbo-lag problems!
Amazing little cars.

I'd love to stick a supercharger on the I3 and see how much power you could get out of it.

Also, this:

plus this:

Or, being a bit more unrealistic, the powertrain from a LS600h.

I believe the tax is calculated on the orignal C02. Unfortunately MOT emissions tests will be based on the vehicle's age so you'd need a V8/V10 with a decent ECU and cats rather than just dropping in a secondhand small block Chevy which sort of offsets the savings for a toy.
Not true - the emission test would be based on the year of manufacture of the engine. You'd just need proof, something like a letter from the manufacturer quoting the engine number and build date.
