What a terrible colour. I was going to read the article to check where it said that this was like a Peugeot 205 GTi fueled on 20 year old Scotch, but the front of the car immediately made me think of this:

And distracted me from my intention.

Somehow I don't see this car going down in the "classic hot hatches" category in the future, nor do I think it will re-establish Peugeot as a power player in the hot hatch wars.

... with a horrendous looking bulbous small car that has the power of 2 malnourished cyclists, in a colour that Honda Jazz owners would describe as 'a bit old lady'. Back indeed, It's like they never left.

It's designed purely for economy. Think more 3 cylinder Corsa econobox than Peugeot Rallye revival. I'll bet you a dollar to a dime that the flowery words Autocar use to describe the sewing machine up front is a load of tittysprinkles. It'll be interesting for 10 minutes before it gets tiresome.

Ok Stu, but this time I do not think so, otherwise Andrew Frankel better resigns from business.

It isn't fast enough to be a hot hatch.

It's horrid and it confirms that pug have still lost the design plot.

These cars with great big gaping grilles and mahoosive badges on the front are bloody awful.

No thanks!

Also, what an odd looking dash. The pod with dials perched above the steering wheel look like an afterthought.

It may not look that pretty but I would give it a chance. The kerb weight for instance is under 1000kgs, I don't think there are too many small hatches that weigh less than that now.

I think that dynamically it may be rather a good car. I doesn't matter that it can't do 150mph or 0-62 in under 5 seconds, it is probably a hoot around corners. If Peugeot makes a good old fashioned 'Ralleye' edition with a bit more weight chopped off it. they may be onto a winner again.
