My Clio is left outside in the street as I don't have a driveway or garage, as is the Z4. I've normally been parking my Clio outside of my house on the kerb slightly as there is little room to pass on the road (as my neighbours park their flat bed Transit on the road itself) but this week someone bent my door mirror back on two occasions so as not to ps off any more pedestrians I thought I'd best rethink.

So I have been parking outside my neighbour's house the last few nights and this morning I saw that it had been keyed. As you can see by the photos it isn't at all accidental. I have no CCTV and no witnesses and no evidence. It isn't exactly the nicest area of the town I live in.

Now, do I knock on his door and ask if he'd seen or heard anything, or should I just contact the police and let them do their own doorknocking (or not as the case may be)?

Horrible.
Have you checked for any other damage?
Brake lines, tyres & wheel nuts in particular.

You have my sympathies OP! I've had it happen to me 3 times within 2 months a few years back.

Don't expect the police to be interested/do anything. The best they could do for me was to ask if I could park somewhere else. rolleyes

You could try your neighbour and see what their reaction/body language is like.

Parked outside your neighbour's house you say?
Guess what I think.

If I was sure it was them I'd be rather tempted to do it back - and then feign such concern "oh, how terrible! There are obviously some nasty fkers in the area etc" - they'd know you did it but be unable to say anything.

However I don't think I could actually go through with that - keying a car is something I don't think I could possibly do.

That's terrible. A Williams too :cry

Can you still get the Williams stickers? Unfortunately, you're going to need one.

Looks more like a sort of 'X bar' (mean average) type thing to me.

If you're going to key a car, why make random squiggles? surely you'd draw a cock and balls or something?

I know the feeling. While visiting a girlfriend a few years ago now I noticed increasing scratch marks all over my car. The little hoody scrote responsible turned out to be a seemingly quiet gentleman in his 60's who took offence to my parking, which was perfectly legal, on a side road. Being young and madly fond of this girl I had no intention to stop seeing her and didn't have much choice but to park on that piece of road, since there wasn't anywhere else. My car went from looking very nice to being utterly covered in scratches in a two week period before I tracked down who had been doing it.

Stupid old , just so needless and malicious.

Back on topic, you have my condolences and thankfully it wasn't anything more sinister. smile

Will be a Williams 1 owner, dismayed at Renaults cheek of bringing out another two editions of a limited edition.

Only joking, bad luck, anyone who does that needs the same visiting upon their scrotum with a soldering iron.

So what did you do? I'd of lamped the old C*NT if I saw him doing that to my car!

When I did confront him he refused to acknowledge that he'd done anything wrong - it was my fault for parking there, if I hadn't parked my car on that road it wouldn't have been damaged. He seemed convinced that essentially it was all my fault and that I was just asking for trouble.

He just seemed like a really angry man and not once did he show any sign of being sorry or that he might have been in the wrong. I couldn't in good conscience hit an old person for scratching my car, it's just a piece of metal at the end of the day and the way he seemed to have so much anger over something so trivial made me think that his life must be pretty sad and lonely to do something like that. I found out a little later that he lives in a tiny and grotty looking mobile home on a site with no wife and no kids or family visits to speak of. I just contented myself at the time with the prospect that he'd probably die alone in that little dirty sthole of what is basically a glorified caravan.

In for a penny, get a couple of wide angle cheap cameras mounted inside, whomever does it again will be liable for the earlier damage if they're captured in 720p.
