OP I'm really sorry to hear this, it's a sad state of affairs that this seems to be happening a lot now.

Reeks of the "I can't have nice things 'cos I won't put the effort in to obtain them therefore nobody else deserves to have nice things " mentality that this country seems to have as demonstrated by the London riots.

Good luck. Don't believe all the 'police won't care' b.s. from the daily mail contingent here - mine was scratched much worse, full length of one side. PCSO visited, had a look, knocked on all the doors down the street to ask them about it, and sent letters to the whole street later that week about vandalism of cars in the street and to let everyone know that they are investigating. I thought it was a bloody good effort compared to what 'knowledgeable' pistonheads members led me to expect.

Buffed out well enough to sell the car, using a proper mains powered buffer.

You were lucky, I got the 'police won't care/daily mail response' when mine got done, despite it being one of ten or so cars that got keyed. I couldn't even report it at my local police station, they redirected me to a phoneline to report it!

When I did confront him he refused to acknowledge that he'd done anything wrong - it was my fault for parking there, if I hadn't parked my car on that road it wouldn't have been damaged. He seemed convinced that essentially it was all my fault and that I was just asking for trouble.

He just seemed like a really angry man and not once did he show any sign of being sorry or that he might have been in the wrong. I couldn't in good conscience hit an old person for scratching my car, it's just a piece of metal at the end of the day and the way he seemed to have so much anger over something so trivial made me think that his life must be pretty sad and lonely to do something like that. I found out a little later that he lives in a tiny and grotty looking mobile home on a site with no wife and no kids or family visits to speak of. I just contented myself at the time with the prospect that he'd probably die alone in that little dirty sthole of what is basically a glorified caravan.
I know it's scant consolation but good on you for not descending to his level. He's clearly failing at life while you seem to have a good head on your shoulders. That's worth more than a paintjob. It's certainly worth a lot more than getting into trouble over a paintjob.

EDIT: And I also offer my sympathies to the OP. It's a crap thing to go through for anyone, especially something as special as a Williams.

Can only assume you live in an area where little real crime actually happens and the Police are itching to actually do something.

My alcoholic neighbour reversed into our 130 leaving us needing a new door. Police weren't interested as no-one actually witnessed the act despite people seeing him in his car prior to the incident and speeding off after a loud noise.... rolleyes

See my recent thread about GF having a coming together with a cyclist for further evidence that the Police are in fact an utter waste of time for decent citizens in urban areas.

OP sorry about your car. I would actually go down the route suggested to get some surveillance on the go, best served cold and all that!

Very noble of you hehe. I wouldn't be so forgiving, people who no respect for other people's things, piss me right off.

With respect, I think you're the one talking b.s. rolleyes

Not sure what you're basing the "daily mail contingent" crap on?

I had my car keyed 3 times in about 6 weeks, by presumably the same person given the similarities between each keying incident.

Reported 2 incidents to the police but didn't bother reporting the third due to their response on the previous occasions.

On both occasions they took nearly all day to make an appearance. When they did turn up, they stayed no longer than 5 minutes. They had a quick look at the damage and told me to park elsewhere. Completely useless.

If they did that to mine, they should hope I would never find them.
No keyboard warriorness intended, I would hurt them. Badly.

Sorry to hear - I really can't understand how anybody can do this.

Last winter some folk thought it would be a grand idea to build a snowman on the top of my car - ho bloody ho it cracked all the fibreglass and cost in excess of 3k to repair.. I share your pain

I agree with an earlier poster. It sounds like someone with a grudge, and my experience is that people can get very territorial about the road outside their house. Also, these things tend to get repeated, so it may be sensible to hold on a repair for a few weeks.

Had a golf damaged a few years back, turned out to be the middle aged respectable god botherers in the street. It's not always who you think it will be.
