assuming that you have been honest with your advert, & you dont hide anything from the buyer, i dont think you have got anything to be worried about.

if it goes for 1200/1300 & you sell it 'sold as seen no guarantee given or implied' you should be ok - just get the buyer to sign the sales receipt confirming he is happy to purchase the car 'as seen'.

maybe you shouldnt have started this particular thread as we all read your previous thread so we knew that the car in question was a 407.

from that alone, & the fact that you have previously stated you live in winchester, it wouldnt have been too difficult to track it down on-line.

just take the money which will cover what you have spent on your horrible (in my opinion) megane!

"Fresh with my new tool kit I decided today to take out the egr valve from my horrible 407 car. I read online it was a nice simple job, and that you could do it yourself. Being a nice innocent type I stupidly believed these people on the internet and set about completing the jobs myself. After about 4 hours I have managed to take the egr valve off and put if back on, there my success ends."

"I have taken this to a garage and was told that the EGR valve will be sooty and that I could have it taken of or cleaned. However I have never seen the need to do this as the car still runs well"
Yes and I spent over 400 quid getting that all put right. The fact that I've got the receipts for it, doens't change your little opinion does it.

Either way, sorry but I think your a cock. I asked for the add not to be put on here, and instead you thought you'd be an internet hero and do it. Imageine if the person who buys the car and who is happy reads this tomorrow night... Not great is it...

If you really really thought I was trying to have someone over: 1) why not email me on here or whatever, 2) why would I start a thread about it?

You need to get a life you sad little person.

Maybe mate. I'm not about ripping anyone off tbh. I know the feeling of being excited and happy to own something and realizing slowly (but that's for the other thread) that your screwed.

And it's not about making money back from the megane. It's about getting rid of a car that I don't want or need any more.

I am always surprised at what sells on eBay but you haven't been as explicit as you could have been if the interior is as bad as you have stated on here - you state in the eBay advert that you used the car for running your garden business, not transporting waste around and there are no interior pictures. How bad is the interior?

Keep us informed.

Then why not put in on for a fixed price instead of letting it go to auction?

You shouldn't really be posting questions on a public forum then.

Well I did. Anything too horrible or nasty was taken away in a friends transit tipper. I have spent half a day properly cleaning the inside. And it now looks quite respectable. But to my mind that doens't change the fact that at some point in it's life it's had organic matter decaying in there.

I'll take a couple of pics in the morning of the interior. And yes it does run well now, with just the antipollution fault problem. I even drove it 70 odd miles to price a big big job last week and it was great and averaged 53mpg, but then admittedly I was driving like a granny.

I posted a question about something that was troubling me... I though that maybe someone on here might have been in the same situation before.

I basically wanted to ask what you do when you know something is selling for more than it's worth, as a general question. I didn't want to get into the specifics of the car I was selling.

never hinted or said that you were ripping anyone off - all i said was that so long as you are honest & up front you shouldnt have anything to worry about.

if someone buys a car that goes wrong shortly afterwards, as happened to you, then that person has to deal with it.

whilst you probably didnt do yourself any favours with some of your postings you were at least honest when saying that you know fk all about cars etc etc.

you took the fault on the chin & you have paid to have the megane fixed - fair play to you on that point.

Because I didn't want to have to work out properly what it was worth without really knowing. Because in all honesty I don't give a st about the car and just want rid. The easiest way in my mind to get rid of it was a three day listing. Giving me time to clean it.

Nothing against you personally but you're proven to have lied once in your ad and your OP shows that you're feeling guilty over potentially ripping someone off. Perhaps there's more to the story than you're letting on?

Where did I lie? I feel guilty about taking more money for something than I think it's worth. Now I know this is odd to most people, but I feel guilty if I quote for a tree take down in a day in my normal job and we are packing away by 1...

Edit to say - if I have got something wrong in the add I'm more than happy to change it now or tonight.

Fair enough - but there is a contradiction there in saying you didn't want to work out, now you feel bad about it start to make market price.

Put it another way, the market is working out the price for you - either stop worrying and accept the final price it makes or take it down and put it up for what you want for it?

I have to say I give you due credit for some WTF threads!

Quite plainly says you haven't removed EGR valve in your ad. When in fact you have another topic going where you've got pictures of it removed???

Fair enough - what I meant was that another garage have looked as it and put it on the computer and said it needs cleaning and possible changing. And I was advised to leave it until it's a problem.

But I accept your point. I can honestly and completely honestly say that just didn't cross my mind when I wrote that add.

Also sorry for my rudeness earlier, it wansn't warranted and I apologise.

Apology accepted but to be perfectly honest your confession(s) should be heard by your potential ebay buyers. Perhaps it would be prudent to cancel your auction and re-list with 100% truth. Your conscience will be clear and your car WILL sell for more than 500 guaranteed. WIN - WIN

If you honestly think it will be helpful to anyone buying the car I will EDIT the listing to say the car has had the egr taken off. I will also show the garage report saying it's not a problem at the moment to anyone buying and explain it in person.

Will that be acceptable to you?
