Advice on selling some private plates
Discussion
Hi guys, I have for sale some private plates left over from a sale of a hotel, ie all the cars in the family had them as it went with the name of the hotel!
R70 YAL, R80 YAL and R90 YAL, wonder who can guess the name of the hotel!?
So I called regtransfers and they offered to sell them for me with minimal hassle and I would net 750 a plate, does this sound good to you guys!? Any where else I should look to sell them? Never sold a plate before but I am tired of paying retention fees every year!
Cheers in advance

I agree with what you are saying, they would only be good if you too owned a "Royal" hotel etc... A friend suggested calling up other hotels with the same name and asking if the owners would like to bid on them but did not know if anyone would pay that kind of money for them. Cheers for your help guys
The problems I've had with Regtransfers over the years, specifically overvalu8ing plates and of course they don't sell, then they come back ans suggest a lower valuation. In one case from 11,500 to a sale price (eventually) od 3,000. check out Primo - he's better in my opinion:-

Selling cherished plates these days is such a bind. They're really worth nothing unless they do actually read something with squinting, closing one eye and standing on one leg.
They don't tell you how long it will take to sell them to net your £750. It won't matter to them if they have your plates listed for the next 3 years - they will just add them to their existing pile.
Try listing them on eBay either together or as seperate auctions.

A taxi (or private hire) firm in Bristol have a couple of VW Transporters with R20 YAL, R30 YAL and some more. If you'd like, I can enquire as to the name of this company and pop some details in this thread/via PM?

I'd suggest this is your best bet and, in your shoes, I would take whatever this company might offer instead of holding out for someone to advertise and maybe eventually sell your plate for 750, while paying 75 a year to keep the three of them on retention.
