I once had a RCZ for a weekend. Shame realy, seeing as we had bought it and over the three months before getting (some of) our money back the dealership staff put more miles on it than we did.

They could at least have given him a go in the EX1 or SR1...

Simon
I'd want a weekend in an SR71 for that money!

I just don't know where to start with this story. But I think you're all right.

I hope he had a Pug 306 GTI-6 in all of that lot.

I may have now defected to BMW these days but I still miss the little Pug.

Does seem a little strange but if he can afford it an he is happy then thats up to him. Peugeot's aren't that terrible really, nobody died from owning one, he probably likes the whole purchasing experience and gets treated well by the dealership, why you would buy so many I don't know but it sounds like he did the purchasing for his family who were also happy with driving a Peugeot.

The gift sounds a bit mean, really they should have just not said anything, I dont get a party thrown for me by Tesco and I have spent a fair bit there, but Peugeot are like all mainstream manufacturers going through tough times so I guess the money isnt there to give cars away.

What a total non story. We have a custom who's bought 100ks worth of Renaults in the last 24 months. It's his money to do as he pleases with.

This chap obviously likes Peugeot. Likes his dealer and probably gets looked after very well so is happy to spend his money there.

The real issue is why Peugeot thought this was worthy of a press release. Maybe a spot in the local rag but hardly earth shattering news.

Sort of beg to differ on that one.

Bit odd for PH to be ripping this piss out of a dealer on an official basis.

This is just a case of a normal bloke who probably knows very little about cars and is certainly not an enthusiast who probably just wants a "reliable, modern car".

He probably would not trust anything more than a couple of years old and the local dealer has probably taken care of him.
I feel sorry for the chap who marries the daughter, he will also have to stump up for a brand new Pug every couple of years because 'daddy says they are the best'.

The guy obviously likes his Peugeots, feels that the dealer looks after him and gets a little recognition for his loyalty. Although not PH, it's a nice story.

Go ahead and question his taste/logic/common sense etc but I say good luck to the customer and the dealer.

Makes a change from the "I hate my dealer" stories.
This is what I was thinking. At least they reckognised him as a loyal customer.

I remeber my uncle telling me about how every Friday he used to order a Dominoes. This went on for something like a year.
The last time (Unknowingly) he placed an order with them on the phone, they said as you've ordered xx many pizzas, this order is free.

He then came to a realization of the copious amounts of money he spent with them and never ordered from them again.

Hope this guy comes to the same realization!
Similarly, in an old job, I used to get half day on a Friday. I'd usher in the weekend with a chicken zinger meal. One Friday afternoon, I ordered something different, the drive-through lass made some smartass comment and I never went back.

Peugeot man, take note. They're taking the piss out of you.

I know somebody who has owned 15 brand new cars in 11 years, but the majority of them have been a different make every time. If Peugeot had given this bloke an all expenses fortnight in a sunny part of France and an RCZ to use, that'd be slightly more newsworthy.

Indeed.

If they'd given him his next car free that would be different.

Guy in America puts a million miles on his Accord - Honda give him a brand new one.

Guy spends way too much money at a Peugeot dealership - they give him nothing more than a test drive.

One of those is rewarding brand loyalty and one is just a test drive.
Well said. If Mr Rackley had bought jap I bet he wouldn't have had to buy 23 cars in 20 years!

He hasnt really spent 250k though, by the time he trades his old cars in with them its probably half of that figure or less, still too much to spend on peugeots though!

Assuming he's lost 40% of the 250k total in depreciation, he's spent ~£380 a month for 22 years. At least he's got a free test drive though, eh? Dealer must be laughing.
