Doubt it's the highest, but it's still a big one in one go, 64,000 euros+vat at Ruf on my GT2 upgrades.
Upgrades? st. The. Bed. How the other half live, eh?

The most I've parted with was a shade over £1200 for a raft of bushes, CV joints, fuel lines and labour.

£600 to sort the ABS on my corrado, then I spent £300 on parts sorting the brakes a few weeks later.

Wow, some people are really rich. The most I've spent in one go was £400 for a new shock absorber, various suspension bits and some other stuff I can't remember. Before that about £380 for new front calipers, disks and pads and the having the rear drums cleaned out.

I have now resolved to only use garages for an annual service on my newish car to keep up the FSH, and possibly welding. Everything else I will be doing myself. After all, how hard can it be?

I spent a fortune (over 2,000) on my old 850-quid E28 520i, even then I ended up scrappng it. Then 2,000 to get my M535i through its MOT. Then 800 getting my XJ40 welded for its MOT (having already spent 1,100 getting the top end overhauled, new back boxes and so on) then flogged it a few months later to avoid having to do the same again.

Typing this out makes feel like an idiot. But then, looking back I have run the kinds of cars I wanted to run for the same cost - or less - than most people spend running a Fiesta on hire purchase.

Or maybe I really am an idiot biggrin
