So you have an SLK with the registration '10 LA'... The only thing people are going to possibly assume is that you are a big titted blonde hairdresser called Lola. smile

ps. Nice plate btw

its all well and good having a new 12 plate SLK (with special order magenta leather interior!) but if you still live at home with your parents, the girls will go home with the bloke with the 20 year old stter and his own flat...

Yeah, from a nerdy IT consultant who has an interest in cars. Hence why we're on PH. Your comment would of been valid if I posted the question on a different topic forum altogether!
No, my comment would have been valid.

Some added irony in here for you to.

Op if you answer:

No - then you'll be flamed by everyone for having foolish priorities in life (ironic considering this is a car fanatics site)

Yes - people will probably either ease off or think you're telling lies

IMHO you the OP would have been better off buying used, putting his private plate on it and throwing the money he'd saved at poor people.

So that they know he's considerably richer than them.

With a "quality" plate I'd stick it on now.
If it was a rubbish one in a recent or current format, I'd stick with the 12 plate forever.

Why did you choose the SLK OP?

If you sold the plate and didn't finance the Merc, you could have fun cars. You may not look quite that rich, but you'll be having more fun than most people on the roads.

Although I am not a fan of private plates, I know many are. If you really want people to notice you for the wrong reasons (how rich you appear to be) then put the private plate on. A 12plate just tells me that the person has probably financed themselves up to the hilt to drive it. Your other alternative is to put a sign on the car saying 'paid cash, didn't take out a monstrously back-end weighted lease deal' and keep the 12 plate!

Im thinking the same thing, if i was going for "I'm considerably richer than you" I would have gone with a few year old Bentley Continental GT and then put the private plate on it to hide it's age.

Jesus Christ, it's worse than the Daily Wail comments section in here! TBH I didn't think the OP was too attention-wey and it's a valid question.

I admire successful hairdressers hehewink

For the record, at 19 I bought an Escort Cosworth. Stupid, stupid idea, as now my bro has lovely house and equity. I, however, have some awesome stories.

I would SORN the Merc and stick it in the garage and get a Dacia Duster (which is better looking) that way you don't have the embarrassment of people knowing you bought a Merc SLK. biggrin

Does anyone have any spare apostrophes, capital letters and a dictionary?

Pistonheads - being completely illiterate doesn't matter.
