They are going to keep making G's until at least 2020.. well for military at least.

Mind my 1988 one will still be there for another 20 years if maintained.. so no real shortage of them.

Pretty much!
The AMG boys must have been looking at that engine bay the whole time and shouting at the accountants.
"It VILL go in, ve heff done it, look, all you must now do is sell it to zuh rappers und zuh dealers!"
And one day, we'll see them knocking around at a fuel-crisis-induced ten grand, and how great will that be
Sam, you know as well as I do, that is the wrong accent for that part of germanyThe AMG boys must have been looking at that engine bay the whole time and shouting at the accountants.

Always loved the G wagen. Mum had a series of w123/w124 te's when I was growing up and always remember the first time I saw one in the showroom she had trouble getting me out of it to go home. I think it was the mystery factor also, I didn't know anyone that had one and there was next to no info apart from the sales literature at the time (pre Internet obviously)
Finally bought one this year, an ex demo g350 cdi bluetec rhd fully loaded. Looked at range rovers and all the other usual contenders but as soon as I closed the door on the G the others didn't have a look in. Absolutely fantastic but of kit in every way and feel properly over engineered in a similar way to the old w126's. Don't think I could ever afford to run a v12 but very glad they are making it.

If MB can put 600bhp+ twin turbo V12 in this 'old truck', why can't LR do something special for the last few Defenders? How about the current RR's TDV8?
Because the Defender is outdated, and highly underdeveloped. It couldn't handle the power of the TDV8, in the shape it's in now.aerospoke said:
