Ask them for an M3 or M5 for a few days? Maybe a 1M? biggrin
I just suggested a very interesting courtesy car.

I am 24 so I guess insurance for them would put that idea to sleep however.

I really would want to see the car first before they hold all the money! Failing that I think it's only fair for some sort of decent incentive to be offered to you.

Why not just accept their kind offer and enjoy their car before you get yours.
Because as others have said, I am in a position of power and want something in return for helping the dealer out by increasing their sales figures and for dealing with the disappointment of them saying your new car is no longer ready when they said it would be.
Ah, the old position of greed, sorry power.

Say you don't need the courtesy car (unless it's a new M5 or 1M) but that you'll happily split what it's worth to them 50/50

They'll lie about what it's worth so maybe make that 60/40 smile

It's business. BMW aren't supplying the car for zero profit are they? No. Doesn't make them greedy though.

If they hadn't failed to meet the promised delivery date to their customer then they wouldn't be in this situation. They are asking the customer to pay in advance, unseen, for a car they have already failed to deliver. It is purely for their own profit that they want the customer to be flexible. Not unreasonable for the customer to ask for something in return for being inconvienienced and helping them out.

I think they have been quite reasonable offering you a loan car. They are just trying to get their figures in for the 1/4.

I'd ask for a set of mats and thats about it on top of the loaner and leave it at that.

Enjoy the free loaner for the month smile

Really..?

From the sound of it you're talking days, not months or years.

it's just a car.

Yes your right, have them for everything you can get with a cherry on top, after all it's only business.

Op, you could try being honest with them and simply ask what gain they are getting by you paying before month end. Ask them to put some figures on it and then suggest that you'd be open to something beneficial for you.

Balls in their court mate just tell them to make it worth it or you won't bother. They will want you to put insurance in place as well so see what they say.

They need you more than you need them.
Nail on head- I wouldn't make any specific requests to the Dealership- just ask them "What's in it for me?" and see what they are prepared to bargain with- you can keep saying no until they offer something that you like the sound of- irrespective of whether the something is a cap, a tank of fuel, a weekend loan of a Peugeot, M5 test drive, BMW trackday, or whatever else they can think of to possibly sweeten the deal.
If they won't offer anything, then turn them down. Simple.

This is the approach I am going to take, thanks!

A set of mats? The car comes with mats as standard...Shall I ask them to include 4 wheels as part of the deal as well?!

Is it really only the balance of a deposit? I would have thought that would have been requested already, if you're only a couple of weeks away from getting the car.
You pay some of the deposit when ordering, typically £1000 and the remaining balance upon collecting the car, except in this situation of course smile
I would imagine that for them to claim it this quarter they will also want the car registered this month, meaning when you do get your new car it will already be a few weeks old - if you see what I mean? Might also affect your finance payments too (which I'm assuming you need as you only mention a deposit).

The first rule of capitalism; don't forget the cherry.

Wait, it might have been something... don't talk about capitalism? Nah... dammit I had this earlier...

That's a good point I would in effect be paying the monthly finance early before I have the car....

Dealing with this as well as incompetant travel agents has really put a pisser on my day.
