I absolutely love it, it looks so cool imo.

I have a spare leather alfa interior which would freshen up the cabin, and a decent engine could be sourced. As a project starter it looks great, Im off to c+c now smile

That makes me feel very old!! I was 15 and apprentice blacksmith when that was new. Amazing how powerful engines have become since that simple side valve engine.

We have a Fiat 500 which is similar in terms of lack of alacrity and it does kind of work like you say but you are left straggling and Cayenne and RRS drivers dont cut you much slack, ditto brakes, now I have sorted the Fiats brakes they are ok but any modern car will pull up a lot quicker, especially in the wet. With a little work to modernise it, could be a fun car but as is it would drive you batst as is daily.

And as for the talk of V8's and V6's, doesnt need one, especially an old Essex V6, nothing really needs that wheezy old boat anchor, especially somethign so small, unless you are going for a 70's custom style, for a car of this size those kinds of engines are physically big and probably more torquey than it needs, 170 BHP modern multi valve rev monster is the way to go here, scrap all the crap old suspension and steering and put modern stuff in, four link the back end, stiffen the shell and it could be an excellent B road sleeper.

It's free, but you still have to display a valid tax disc....

Common misconception - cars of this age are not "exempt" but the duty is at zero rate (so it's free).

Correct.

It’s a remarkably satisfying experience applying for your zero rate tax disc.

I actually look forward to ‘taxing’ my Amazon!

Apart from the dreadful advert, the first thing that strikes me is that if it were the previous (e93a?) generation or the later 105e it would probably be worth at least 3 times what this is up for. How much is down to fashion, the Harry Potter vs Roland Rat effect and how much is down to the ease of modding? Whatever the reason this must be the cheapest way into any small Ford pre-1980.
On the subject of the 'bonus 3p',years ago a friend would roll some paper up with a fiver wrapped round the outside and put it under the seat when showing prospective purchasers a car-he swore it worked and no-one ever pointed it out to him.

OK, I've got it, although mention of 'the nipper' put me off the scent, the identity of the vendor must be Lewis Hamilton....

Shed fail.
+1

You COULD spend many, MANY hours and burn large quantities of cash to fix the rot, repaint the shell, change the brakes and the suspension, fit a different motor and gearbox and ECU, replace all the wiring, replace the interior, etc.

OR

You could blow £800 on beer and women and buy a shed in full working order.

I'm a big petrolhead with bills to prove it but to buy this heap is the definition of total insanity to me. I'm oot!
