Close, but not quite. They don't ask you to release the car, they overpay (normally supposedly to include shipping) then ask you to return the overpayment or to pay the "shipper" with it.

You've got the money so you feel safe paying out, then the bank tell you the original payment's been reversed and you're down the cost of the shipper.

Holy shyte, the guy wants nearly 100,000 for a 2001 360 spider, that's double the price you would pay here. No wonder they are buying them in from the uk, import duty and shipping probably around 30k at max meaning 20k profit on the car.
