Morning all.

I received a letter from admiral yesterday saying they have found a discrepancy in the details I gave them against their records, and they will now be charging me £338.41, which will be debited from my account shortly.

WTF.

I'm just about to phone them up now, but has anyone had this before? I've looked over the "updated policy" they've sent me, and it looks EXACTLY the same.

Has this happened before? I simply cannot afford to pay this amount frown especially when I'm 8 MONTHS into my policy!

Any points or an accident that you haven't declared?

Just thought that this wouldn't really matter as they wouldn't just charge the increase for the length of policy you have remaining but for the entire year.

Make sure your policy matches what was promised when sold.

They did this to me, I asked them to go through the phone calls, and they took back their demand as they had promised the price in the phone calls based on the info I had given them.

If this is the case, raise a raise a complaint now that way the charge will be held untill the case is sorted.
Also ask for a direct line, as they charge 8p per minute when you call to discuss it.

I got the charge waived, and £100 for my troubles. If they have priced on the info given, then change there minds due to other info, fight it!

aholes.

I've just found my original policy, and it looks like I didn't add my grandfathers 3pts to the policy when I took it out.

bks
£338 for a speeding ticket though, thanks admiral

Surprised it happened so long into the policy - has your grandfather recently renewed his insurance with an Admiral Group company by any chance?

I've had one of these letters before too.

Hardly the insurers mistake is it unless their information is incorrect......

yikes - someone somewhere thinks he has points.....

Is his own car insured with an Admiral Group company?

Motobility car, so I don't know tbh.

He doesn't have the points though, wish me luck! Just trying to find a freephone number for them as I can see this being a lengthy conversation.

Definitely not then. Royal Sun Alliance provide the insurance for Motability IIRC.

029 2060 1294 if you have free minutes to landlines etc? Cheaper than the 0871 number anyway

Jeez, that is a huge increase. How much does having him on there reduce your premium by?

Resolved!

My father has the same name as my grandfather, and my dad has a multicar quote with admiral, of which he has 3pts declared.

They thought my father was my grandfather, why did they not just look at the DOB? C*nts!

rolleyes

Happy now though, thanks for the input everyone.

Nice one, it's a silly mistake by them but I'm glad they're trying to catch non disclosure too though

True, at least they are being proactive rather than refusing a claim...

I've just noticed from my recent renewal that on the "drives other cars" section against my name it has "Owns another car" which is remarkably odd since I definitely just put "access to other cars" on the website and confirmed it on the phone. My conspiracy theory detector is twitching slightly, although I'm not convinced it would have a significant material impact on the price of fish.

How would that have told them it was your dad or granddad, blokes have kids at all ages.
