Always thought it'd be a bit of fun to slap a pair of GT25's or a GT30 on an old 535i, Maybe a 540i and a pair of GT28 would be more of a laugh smile

Thanks for giving us more info. on this car. smile

Is that Ring pic. real, looks so clear and sharp I was thinking photoshop.

Hopefully with the fuel duty hike more E39s will come within range later in 2012.

Absolutely lovely, I'd love to have a mint B10 Bi-Turbo in the stable keeping the B7 company at night.

Delightful!

Why can't BMW make anything so good looking today? Timeless...

This has just replaced the green Ruf 911 Turbo in my dream garage.

You'd have to get a left-hooker to do so.

I must admit to being slightly jealous - even though I bagged an E34 B10 3.5 in very similar circumstances.
I've always wanted a Bi-Turbo as part of the fleet. I think the two of them would sit very nicely together in the garage.

I wonder what sort of unicorn horn they use for the compressor wheels to elevate the cost of 2 T25s to over 5000 Euros???

I'd say as it's posted by Dale it's real, Dale is our man at and usually on, the Ring.

Yep, it's a real photo. Problem is that I was hung out of the top of an open roll-caged car taking photos and I spun the wheel on the camera up to 1/360 and f12... luckily it was very bright and a bit of RAW shopping rescued the shot... it just doesn't look normal.

I have owned one of those from june 2006 until january 2012, and have driven about 25k kms with it. Very efficient. Germanic. No drama, no exiting sound, no high revving, but it goes fast. A bit like a Bentley Arnage. You don't realize how quick it can be. Which can be a weakness for some of us.
Ah, well, the maintenance was a nightmare. Not only costwise, but many pieces are out of stock, and Alpina does not care too much about their old cars. They sell wine (biggest distributor of Italian wine in Germany), eventually some special cars, and that's it. They're Bavarian.

you can still order by Alpina but its costly and they are very stubborn biggrin
and the parts are more special so a bit more costly then BMW stuf...

here is a part-list with all the numbers to order, I have some parts from Alpina on my car to, Hartge uses also parts from Alpina those days, many engine/gearbox parts.

I've owned number 360 (of 507) for several years. B10 bi-turbo was the fastest saloon car in the world in its hay day. Very exclusive feeling overall. Kinda dull in city traffic but a monster on the autobahn. I loved it!

If you're still looking for a 1979 B7 Turbo, there's one for sale in Switzerland. Not cheap though:

petrolveins 540i sport had me looking at eBay and I chanced upon this:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-Alpina-B10-Bi-Turbo-...

I also accosted an E46 Individual owner that had owned it since new outside a shop earlier that may have had me thinking of BMWs.

A guy on one the bmw forums bought a BiTurbo and even doing his own spannering ran up a 5k bill in just over a year - translate that into garage bills with the fairly normal 1:2 (parts:labour) split and you have a 15k bill if you haven't got the necessary skills.....

I think the relationship is near to an end with tears, broken parts and broken hearts too.
