Possibly the buyer turned off all the taps while they calculated what money there was and where it was going and what the projected returns were to be? A case of telling the divisions they were clear to carry on with the existing revenue creation side of the business but that everything esle on the investment side was under review?
Quite possibly, but I would have thought a new partnership would have a minimum term to it and investments on both sides. Neither of these things I would have thought possible during this so called "lockdown"?Also, Gearchange, you seem to have overlooked the fact that the Turbo Esprit was an Eighties car. The Essex Turbo was built to coincide with the same livery on Mansell's car for the 1981 season. The S1 and S2 Esprits were Seventies cars, but you'll find them crisp-lined, elegant and pleasantly simple, thus undermining your point about the tasteless Seventies

And BTW: I don't like the Exxige V6...
Which one?- Exige V6 Coupe - for 15-year olds and a small handful of trackday nutters.
- Exige V6 Convertible - everything the Evora should have been but wasn't. This should be the best car from Lotus for a very long time and have decent customer appeal with removable roof and no boy-racer body kit.
Anyway, the coupe... I don't know... Back makes me think of a late Esprit. I've always liked the Esprit because of the square lines... When they slapped on the round lights and central exhaust... Nah...
God, I must be getting old LOL (38 now...)

The fact it's pissing the purists off is pretty much proving its working. Most of the posters in here might buy a second hand Elise, evora etc but I doubt many on this thread or on this forum would buy a brand new one.
So why should lotus pander to your needs?
Also they're not stopping the exige or basic evora and Elise's so all you existing 'hardcore' fans will still be able to compare co2 and depreciation with Colin chapmans finest before you end up buying your 335d's/A5's. They are making the woah lairy cars to appeal to the new money masses. The guys that will keep hethel humming.

After my inital reaction of 'ARGGGGHHH.... WTF!' I thought through things and have come up with excatly the same as you in the end.
Good luck to them.
If Lotus partnered up with a respectable manufacturer for support, people may begin to look at the possibility of spending their £70k+ with Lotus. There's nothing in partnering up with a two-bit tuning house that gives you that warm sense of security in making that purchase, though.
It's about as useful as Max Factor teaming up with Rebecca Adlington.

What is it with all the negative abuse, BMW, Mercedes and many other manufactures work with specialist firms to tweek and improve the original designs, either in performance or aerodynamics and it seems to be accepted and indeed customers are willing to more for them. Lotus announce a partnership and your all on their case!!Lets at least wait until something is produced and tested until an opinion is formed. But I think it is a good thing that firms are willing to look outside their own walls for expertise in specific areas very few firms can do every thing to 100% and require assuistance from specialists in certain areas.
hmm, good pointnothing to worry about really.
