RE: Lotus announces partnership with Mansory
Discussion
Just who do they think would actually wish to buy this?
Surely people buy Lotus cars because they're "value for money, purest designs and driving machines", NOT because they have some blinged-up tat adding weight to them.
I struggle to think of a worse match. Even the Aston Cygnet idea was better than this as I could almost see the point to a a small Toyota with a nice leather interior. But a Lotus with 24" reflective gold plated rims? The whole idea just makes me laugh.
Surely this is an April fools day joke?

It's all about young men in the Middle East. They buy all the supercars these days, they're the market Behar has to aim for if he's going to take Ferrari on, and they often have their cars chintzed up to make them individual. So having a relationship with Mansory means that when a young man from the Middle East goes to Mansory to ask them what they can do for them, it's likely that the showroom will be stuffed full of chintzed up Lotuses, which may prompt those young men from the Middle East to buy them.

Where does it say that's what they're doing though? This was the Mansory concept car Lotus showed last year. I struggle to think of a worse match. Since then I've seen numerous Evoras have been ordered with black roofs and others enquiring where they could get the front bumper from.
If the offerings are along those lines then it's a great move.

When you put it that way.. Im all for it. As long as they are still built in Britain. What is it with all the negative abuse, BMW, Mercedes and many other manufactures work with specialist firms to tweek and improve the original designs, either in performance or aerodynamics and it seems to be accepted and indeed customers are willing to more for them. Lotus announce a partnership and your all on their case!!Lets at least wait until something is produced and tested until an opinion is formed. But I think it is a good thing that firms are willing to look outside their own walls for expertise in specific areas very few firms can do every thing to 100% and require assuistance from specialists in certain areas.

Nice idea for Lotus, but how many modified Lotus cars have you ever seen in your life? Im at zero!
Ive never even seen an Esprit with larger alloys!
I suspect the majority of Lotus you see are modified, oen way or another... just not in ways that you can see from the outside. Ive never even seen an Esprit with larger alloys!

While not to many peoples tastes Mansory are good at what they do. However it does seem like an odd partnership for a brand like Lotus - I'd understood their brand image to be simple cars with great handling.
