Outside its looks lovely...inside, its erm, hideous! I couldn't live with that interior. I know its all about personal taste, but thats not for me.
If you or the OH could live with it though, it looks like quite a nice well care for example!
(Nice to see someone actually washing their car for selling pics for a change!)
The one we viewed today had the 2 tone interior but with wood and it wasnt great but I think with the aluminium inserts its much better. Nicer in the flesh than in pics. If you or the OH could live with it though, it looks like quite a nice well care for example!

PS OP whats stopped you buying any of the ones you've looked at so far......
I never buy the first one I see (I've regreted that just once over 30 years) but after 3 or 4 I've normally found the "best" one in my price range. You seem to be well on you way to veiwing every SLK in the country currently for sale

So far viewed 4, all black I never buy the first one I see (I've regreted that just once over 30 years) but after 3 or 4 I've normally found the "best" one in my price range. You seem to be well on you way to veiwing every SLK in the country currently for sale
First one was a pre-facelift model with all black interior but the paintwork was fairly battered the interior was average door cards were falling apart and had been badly glued,3 different makes of tyres (2 on the rear may as well have been linglong ditchfinders)
Second one was a facelift model with black and cream interior. Had been on the lot since September and looked liked it hadnt seen a chamios since the photos were taken even though they knew we were viewing it, cream part of the interior had large scratches, gouges out of it and was very tired for a 50,000 mile car, also had the beginings of rust on the arches and leading edge of the bonnet.
Third was another with black and cream interior, 54,000 miles, worn bolster (I expected it), rust on all 4 wheel arches and the edge of the top panel of the roof, all 4 wheels needed refurbed and there was a crease on the off side of the bonnet (looked like it had been closed with something under there) and the cream part of the interior had the same wear and scratches on it.
Fourth again with cream and black interior had a full merc service history and looked promosing in the advert, but same again heavy rust on all 4 arches and the paint had started to go on them, rust on the leading edge of the bonnet, all 4 wheels needed refurbed and the interior was once again battered.
Starting to feel like we wont find the right one, She has now gone back to looking at RX8s. Think if I find black with black interior and no rust she may still go for it but not looking too likely.

All SLK coloured interiors are just paint applied to the black plastic. It it is not very thick and scratches off easily.
I had one from new back in about 2000 and bits of paint were scratching off within 6 months. It was a nice car and a surprisngly good long distance tourer but I got bored with the quite quickly and changed it after about 18 months for a Boxster which I kept for 8 years which I guess says it all!

Well we have broadened our search a little, now considering silver ones too and have come across this one, http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2012... seller has confirmed no rust on the usual places only a slight blemish where the bumper meets the bodywork and a little bit of lacquer peel on the bootlid near the roof. So going to view it wednesday hopefully. Any opinions? and also as there is no rust can preventative measures be taken?
