I owned an LS430, and think its an incredible car.

For the money here, I cant possibly think of a better car.

Its funny how there is no sale ad price difference between 1995 cars and the later model 1998 cars - both are littering the classifieds for around £1300.

I guess in this economy, and considering the current cost of fuel and road tax, there cant be much demand for this type of car.

I bet if you turned up at a dealership with £999 you could haggle yourself a bargain! A 1998 car in dark green or blue for me please!

There's a PHer's excellent 2000 on ebay wink (not mine! - Item 200734453027)

Garlick's is a mk3: MY97-00 are mk4. Differences are:

Vvti engine with another 20-odd horses (290)
5-speed gearbox
Xenons and restyled front end
Satnav

Road tax is std PLG of course. I'll average over 30mpg on my trip up to Scotland again tonight smile

These are all about silence, comfort and ride quality (as well as peerless reliability). So no loud pipes please wink

I really do fancy a slightly scruffy but mechanically sweet LS400 to tool about in. Would it be rediculous to put some loud pipes on it? I would image that V8 could sound quite nice were it allowed to breath a bit better. There's a guy with an old 740i around here with a fruity exhaust and it's incongruous, but it also sounds lovely.
yes you can...

I once took a flatbed to Fernhurst late on a sunny Sunday evening. I popped the keys in along with a note and went in search of a taxi home. By the time i had a number from the local shop a passing mechanic had looked in polished some corroded connectors and was giving it a quick run.

I could not recommend the guys there enough.

I did see that one but this one is so much closer to me (only 30 miles or so away).

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/260990578357

Just going to find out a few details from my insurance co and hopefully will go and see it this afternoon or tomorrow morning. It doesn't have the DHP but it's a very tidy looking Mk4 IMO. Anything in particular to look for apart from thing like leaky power steering, dodgy header display and suspension creaks and knocks?

Ok, so not all fun and games. Hopefully the low mileage 2000 car I'm looking at will be ok.

ETA. He sold it to his mate. frown
