I don't understand why all the manufacturers seem to think that if a car has an electric engine, they are duty-bound to give the car a whole new radical design. I don't remember this happening with diesel when the first DERVs appeared.
Honda Civic? So inconspicious that I dont think many know they did 2 generations of hybrid.

Shouldn't that be "Goodness me, for a plug in hybrid it looks a bit mundane, verging on horrible"?

True, but the first generation Insight looked like something out of The Jetsons.

Just a shame its £37 grand!

Still, it makes a change from what every manufacturer seems to do these days, and just do a facelift instead of a new model. Its also good to see electric technology coming on a bit (although personally i still think its pointless, as the power still comes from the plug which comes from the oil/coal etc, but that's another story).

Much better looking than a leaf.

Also, i've never even seen/heard of this car until just now, with the irony being i was searching the VX website for a VXR8...

I'm better looking than Leaf.

Great idea but a GM product, so crap reality. Mind you, not many of those who pursue electric-trickery (outside of, maybe, Fisker) have yet worked things out.

Now, will someone persuade Henrik Fisker to mosey on over to Honda for some FC-X sexiness!

I bet if it was a V8 and RWD you lot would judge it the most beautiful car ever.

Its electric so must be ugly

There is a whole lot of clever under that bonnet, probably one of the most interesting powertrains of any car on the market if you are a pistonhead but utterly tedious if you are a pub bore who worships top speed and price tags

What, you mean like everyone was saying the new monaro was really good looking?

Shot yourself in the foot there, no? Especially with them both being a Vauxhall hehe

Beautiful or pretty, no.

Funky and modern I'd say.

Its not actually an electric car and like it or not, its an amazing combination of technology. How many people on here would get an electric car that had a 50 mile range and if you wanted to drive further, would need to plug it in for 2-8 hours to continue? I wouldn't, great for my 7 mile each way commute in the morning but no good for my trip to Cardiff and back on Thursday (275 miles round trip).

The Ampera/Volt solves both problems, 50 mile range on electricity meaning I spend pennies (on electricity) driving to work and back and when I'm sitting in traffic or crawling it uses no electricity at all. When it runs out, the petrol motor kicks in and works as a generator providing electricity to the electric motor. It does NOT charge the batteries in the way conventional Hybrids do.

So if your journey is under 50 miles, it costs under £1 and if its much longer then you can use petrol as you do now?

You do know it is actually a petrol powered car

You can too also go and panic buy petrol if it makes you horny

Or you can plug it into a wall socket and recharge it if you have no great desire to join the masses

I've got no issue with it being electric and this seems to be the way things are going in the next few years and someone will come up with a battery with a great range at a 'normal' price which will make these much more popular, and I certainly wouldn't rule one out.

However, I do not think that is a beautiful car..... frown
