What do you think that will show?

Exactly. I'm not attacking the OP, but there is no stopping the fact I could get a tin of Bird's custard, place it carefully on an acquaintance's 599 GTO, and then pass the picture off as my own car.

It could be his Dad's, Mum's, Brother's etc ...

And you have to question the sanity of someone who was apparently torn between a Porsche Cayman and a DERV SLK, and decided to get the Merc...
Has he gone for that £249/month lease deal that was floating around recently for Diseasel SLKs? I'd expect plenty of 19 year olds can afford that.

No, he is paying cash for a 250 AMG according to him.

No idea, on the other thread I think it was concluded that he was buying with cash but I can't be 100% sure.

Ah, OK.

I saw his "Shall I Contract Hire or Contract Purchase? Mercedes BenzSLK" thread elsewhere, and struggle to believe that many people start off thinking about leasing a £30k, then decide to buy it outright instead.

In fact, I don't believe it.

Post of the year! rofl

I genuinely hope the OP is trolling in the holidays, as I fear for his future social and professional life if he seriously needs our help with deciding an insurance excess amount...

Pay 500 quid a year more to save 2.5k when you inevitably bin it? No brainer wink

Okay, so a picture may not provide conclusive evidence, so i hope they turn up to a PH event in it, with the log book, proof of purchase etc etc... rolleyes

By the time his SLK is 3 years old he'll be 22 (possibly 23 at this rate).

See! Maths is my friend.

Now, what exactly is the point of all this?

all i'm wondering is that if the excess is 2.5k...how much is the policy costing!!!!

I'm 20, and even if could afford a new slk i'd never buy one.

however, i would never consider buying a car like that, people would just think you're a spoilt brat. i'd much rather buy an older...more powerful bmw ect, for a fraction of the price.... oh yeh thats what i am planning on doing (car and insurance for much less than the price of his lower excess).

its beyond me why someone spend that much money on their first car (even if daddy is a millionaire).

first cars are for ragging and crashing.

Might not be too extreme - Admiral offered me an excess of up to £5000 on my recent £500 policy!

Will he have to claim if he gets custard on the seats? If so I suggest the lower excess.

Even the richest, guys. THE RICHEST!! He's rich. The richest infact. So rich he can afford an SLK. Now nothing says Rich to me like a Mercedes SLK. 12 plate no less.
