Who cares if he is getting an SLK, I could of afforded one at 19 had I not bought a house instead, come to think of it I financed a car for not much less than the quoted £249pm around that time, was a stupid move though. At some point the car is going to need tyres, tax etc and all of a sudden you've got a £1k plus month which stings a bit.

I remember when I sold my st220, the person buying it was struggling to finance it at 4k. Well I had replaced the clutch, dmf etc the month before to the tune of £1300. Chances are if he was struggling to raise 4k he couldn't afford to run the car but hey what do I know.

OP if £500 makes this a difficult decision the chances are you can't afford the 5k excess if something goes wrong, doesn't matter how careful you are a deer could jump on to your car whilst driving etc. 2.5k sounds really high too. I wouldn't consider it, but then I wouldn't buy an SLK either.

You remind me of my 20-in-3-days-at-time-of-going-to-press mate who "bought" a 11-plate Focus RS while neglecting to mention he was a lowly secretary hehe in his father's insurance business. Don't worry, we all think he's a tosspot like you as well.....though at least he (got) bought a decent car.

I suspect the OP will wake up in his cornflakes tomorrow and he'll be late for 1st period of GCSE German.

(That all sounds very jealous. I'm not jealous, just incredibly scornful.)

There is a worldwide shortage of custard, maybe that's the issue.

So you are too young to have finished education and therefore possibly not started a decent job yet. You cannot afford the £500 extra for even very limited insurance. Plus you are renting or have a new slk on finance (as per your other thread). You may have over stretched yourself a tad! Enjoy it, but perhaps you have been a tad wreckless smile Reminds me of being 19 and a touch hasty!!
Too young to finish education at 19?

To be fair he has said elsewhere he is a student, hence not finished education.
