Indeed it does.

Not the point of your thread, but I would say a lot of people on PH have been at 150mph on a public road at some time, whether in their own car or as a passenger. Obviously it would be foolhardy to admit to it on a public forum, but it's all comparitive as the average modern merc/bmw/audi, say a 3l and up is capable of cruising at 130mph very easily so the extra 20mph is no problem in the right conditions. To get near to 150mph you usually need 210-220bhp or thereabouts, so not uncommon.
yes

Even my modest 9-3 Aero is booked at 149mph flat out iirc so with some minor fettling such as a remap 150+ is achievable.

Have you done 149mph?

In Germany, obviously...

In the UK, it's a mixture of the two things IMO. If your car tops out at 155mph, for instance, it takes quite a while to get there. You need a fking long road with no junctions or potential for police to be hiding by the side of the road.

I'm not saying PHers are a law abiding bunch when it comes to mway speed limits: I just think there's a massive difference between doing, say, 120mph and 150mph.

The former you'll get a bloody big fine and a ban, the latter you may well end up getting raped in prison!!!

But, and this is why I still believe the majority haven't seen 150mph+: 120 or 130mph is easy to get to **quickly**, but you either need a rapid car or pretty big balls to spend 5 minutes and x miles watching the clock tick those final 10mph or so...

Aah I amended my quote after you posted.

See, I can imagine a hell of a lot more people have been in a car doing 130-140. It's that extra 10-15mph that I'm not convinced by.

Have never been near a Cerbera, but have always fancied having a go in one!!!

The ammended quote is far more reasonable but given the amount of directors on PH 150mph is probably commuting speed hehe

As for cerbera's, have a passenger ride in one, utterly brutal acceleration and the noise is like the apocalypse itself (especially if on straight through pipes like my mates)

Oh yeah, I remember that one. It saves weight, doesn't it...

You only have to find your local Cerbera nutters and ask them - they don't often bite!!

Depends where in the country you are....

Cheers driving

I agree with you that it was one of the stupider things I've seen written on here recently. I'd imagine thousands of PHers (like me!) haen't been 150mph+ on a public road, not everyone gets the chance to drive an M6 down the Autobahn on a daily basis....

Original quote, note use of the word any:

That thread really was the most horrific car crash I have ever witnessed. Still remember the train models displayed on the shelf in the background of one of the photos and the Lambo tattoo.
Made even worse when the OP's Mum ended up getting the thread deleted by Pistonheads.

Up there for me has to be the lovingly a$$kissing supporting post directed at a certain super rich TVR finding mansion living McLaren owner wink and the superb classic "you gushing fool" put down by Flasher. Made even funnier by the fact that I knew the person being 'slapped' and the put down was so spot on.

I'm in northants, but often travel down London way for work. I can end up anywhere really!!

Always remember being amused when they first launched the Cerbera, seemed to have an absurd top speed at the time. I guess it's quite aerodynamic as well. It's like the polar opposite of my Elise (although I guess it still has a pretty low weight).

Would love a pax ride if ever you're free in a weekend. You're welcome to be disappointed by a 160ish bhp Elise!

This was the quote in question:

"It only carries 1 person, Me. It has no extra weight in the car, all glove compartments, cubby holes and the boot is empty. The rear exhaust may or may not add power. It has only ever run on Optimax, I know you get more boost out if this fuel on bigger engined cars but every little helps. The tyres are always inflated to 38 PSI to give extra grip and less tyre slouch. Often I put the rear seats flat, this reduces weight. (Like why you crawl flat across a frozen pond so as not to break the ice). I regularly drive with around £10 of fuel, again weight saving, and often I use engine cleaner in the fuel load to remove debris from the fuel injectors. The car is always clean improving aerodynamic progress. I have timed the 0 - 60 at 9.3 seconds, and this shaves a couple of seconds off the standard time. Hope this answers your question."

The actual thread isn't around anymore from what I can tell:
