If you get it fixed, I suggest you invest in a hidden camera pointing directly at your car. Imagine, cars gleaming like new and it happens again......

Objectively would say your car was targeted for some reason. However, there are a lot of strange people out there who don't need a reason to go the extra mile! I remember watching one of those Police docs where a teenage girl had been going round her area properly vandalising motors at random. The Cops hadn't't much clue why. Some people just have such st meaningless lives that the only thing that gets them any attention/satisfaction is doing things to make others lives worse

My standard response would be it's happened, you have little chance of finding who did it, it's insured...buy a car cover and security light and don't take it personally.

Absolute tossers hope they get caught, but even if they did they would only get a slap on the wrist or sent on holiday at the tax payers expence. Anyway hope you get it sorted OP smile

another thing is people keep saying have you banged someone else s wife? you don't need to even have done that only takes a jealous husband to be suspicious of his wife and start questioning every male person she has contact with and convince himself its you. I had my car done last summer by the GFs ex.

Just took it on the chin though as he only did the drivers door which has 2 dents anyway so gonna replace so hasn't really cost me much. And was probably in retaliation to me kicking his arse in town 4 days before lol.

Equally possible (as little as the OP will want to consider it) that it is a woman taking revenge for her partner being 'stolen'.

The worst damage in all this is to your faith in human nature. Replaced by mis-trust, negativity & you become suspicious of everyone. Such a shame.

Hanging by the balls is to good for them. Unfortunately the deterrent if caught really can be a slapped wrist! It never surprises me how some Courts/Judges deal with this.
No, little Jonny is NOT misunderstood, he's a fking vandal!

As a PC many moons ago we unfortunately came across this reality all to often.
Investigating, statements, interviews, arrests MG case file & Court...just for little Jonny to walk away with a verbal slap. rolleyes

Sorry about your car mate. It's a dilemma now because if you go to the effort & expense of a full re-spray, the ste might target it again!

Keep your car(s) on the drive from now on. Do you perhaps have access to a garage, neighbours garage that's not used?
Good luck.

Occasionally check in with the Police for an update. Were any other cars targeted same time in your local area?

looking at the front headlamps and rear clusters it looks like a mk2 facelift, 2008 onwards? not that I know a lot about a focus, but this is PH biggrin

Truly shocking.

Is it possible for any of your neighbours to have noticed something odd going on? It must be worth speaking to not just those immediately next door but those across the road. Does your street have a resident "nosy neighbour" type who spots everything??

Presumably someone took quite a lot of time and effort to cause that amount of damage so there is a slim chance someone has spotted something out of the norm.

True, it's a 2009 car on a 59 plate. I have let the insurance company know, they are leaving it to me to decide what to do. Either pay for a respray myself, or pay the excess and lose my no claims and have increased premiums for years, will make a big difference to insurance as I am in my 20's.

Nobody seems to have seen anything, I know some people across the street and they haven't seen anything either frown

Also have been advised not to get it repaired yet for fear of it happening again straight away.

I agree with the majority here...looks quite an extreme length to go for just a random person to key your car - never seen a car keyed that badly! feel bad for you OP frown

That's payback for something. If you have kids it's highly possible that it is retaliation for some dispute between them and others. I don't buy into the "damage too bad to be done by kids", and if someone else is pissed off with you or your spouse whose to say they didn't give the local scrotes a fiver and tell them what to do?
Anyway, drive it as is now. Drive it like you hate it. Park it where you want. Bump into everything without a care in the world. You'd be doing that in a few years anyway..

Saw one that appeared on my FB and someone had took a hammer to a 360 fezza... not a pretty sight and I hope they catch the bds as it looks premeditated and they took out every window and hit every panel including lights...

Cant post pictures as its not mine to do but it made me feel sick to see and whilst in london I feel I need a garage before I buy something nice.

Just skim reading this and someone mentioned about neighbours kids kinda suggesting/hinting they knew who did it or something (probably the OP but im abit sleepY),

what would happen if it was a neighbours kid and you confront their household; they refuse to pay as theirs no evidence etc, what happens then or would it be a case of bad blood between the houses?

I also wonder what would happen if an uninsured driver hit your car - could you infact smash the st out of theres as it shouldnt have been on the road, or would you be arrested for criminal damage on an illegal car?
