Too much damage for kids, bks, if it was an adult it would be much higher on the panels and roof

Agree that cctv should be set up. Making me think I should do the same!

Has the roof been done too? Reason I ask is because the scratches are all quite low, even appear to be low on the bonnet, which would indicate young kids, or angry dwarves.

I'd be having a chat with the parents of the kids who "reported" it to your missus.

ETA - bks too slow!

I would pay for the respray and keep my no claims if I were you. I'd also set up a camera outside your house, and if someone tries to do that st again to your car, go Fred Flintstone on them.

Never seen a car keyed that badly before. I got my first car keyed down one side the day after I passed my driving test, was gutted and had an idea of who it was - someone jealous who had a rivalry with me 8-9 years prior (it was a 5 year old saxo). Nothing as bad as that though.

Even the fuel refiller cap has been done. It's not mindless vandalism at all, some thought went into it.

It's either a really nasty kid, someone you've upset, or mistaken identity. Certainly not a quick drag of the key whilst walking past.

Pay for a respray vs loss of no-claims?

Go work it it out - I think unless youre getting a £700 respray the insurance route is the way to go.
I recon you'll be quoted £2k upwards for a decent respray - rectifying the deep scratches takes a while.

That seems unbelievably cheap!!!
Where do you place yours in your car? I'd be concerned about someone trying to steal it mistaking it for a sat-nav/scamera detector or similar, would look for a stealth location that could still video if possible.
Sorry for the thread hi-jack but OP definitely worth looking into the CCTV option once you get sorted out.

Bad luck OP, hope you manage to get it sorted out. Half of the misery must be working out who did it and why. Some sort of installed security device/CCTV might not be a bad idea once the car is repaired.

I have had it mounted in my beamer right next to the centre mirror. suprisingly it is quite unobvious. the wire runs around the top of the screen, behind the sunvisor, and down the pillar, then around the trim to the centre console and cig lighter. quite stealth tbh.

In my new alfa, I was thinking of mounting it in the front grille, putting a clear plastic bag tight around it for weather protection, will have to trial this though. if not, will put it next to the rear view mirror as with the bmw.

If you didn't notice it was there, you wouldn't really notice it tbh.

i don't think it's to much damage for a kid, when my little one was 4/5 he managed to draw all over the hall walls with it all having to be redecorated, likewise never leave a child with access to paint when your chatting to someone...

Some suggest it could be a kid, some suggest an adult...I suggest a midget with a vendetta!

In all seriousness tho, I would be inconsolable if that was my car. Hope you find who did it.

I'd be a bit careful with that. If it wasn't him, you're going to end up with a miffed and bitter kid living next door...

ETA...Burrito, how fast do you want your bks to go?
