I can easily figure them out, but they don't suit as an answer to my question.
The 335i is much bigger than the 135i.
The Range Rover is bigger than the Range Rover Sport, and both are more luxurious inside than the Disco4.
The FL2 is bigger than the more expensive Evoque, is it much more luxurious inside - I don't know, that's why I asked the question, if you know it to be the case why don't you say so as your previous response really doesn't make sense.
I think it's false economy to assume bigger should always be more money though. The 335i is much bigger than the 135i.

I like the FL2, but on the flip side for "nearly" the same money (or in reality pretty much the same if on finance, as in how much a month), why would you not buy the more compact better looking offering if you don't really need the size of the FL2?

Top spec Freelander 2 is the HSE, which has a base price of £33k.
My car ....£35k....
I'm curious then, why other than looks (I'm not saying that's a bad thing, that's your choice) would you pick a more expensive, slightly smaller, probably not as good in the rough stuff, product from the same manufacturer? My car ....£35k....
I'm genuinely curious as I personally love the FL2 in HSE spec, it's lovely inside and is very well specified, I can't think of it wanting for anything - why is a similarly specified Evoque so much more expensive, is it because fashion items usually are more expensive due to demand and the "must-have" factor? ( I'll go get my flame suit on)

You find me the supermini that looks like a downsized RR or Discovery and I'll get my appointment booked immediately.
ok, well find me a supermini that actually looks like the Evoque, as in more than just having 4 wheels and headlights at the front.Oh BTW, just to answer your question how about a Kei car? This one has the same outline silhouette as a Defender station wagon, even the same origins also being based and inspired by the Willys Jeep.

Ah.. IMHO the Evoque is far better-looking with a much nicer interior. Price for HSE I quoted doesn't include any options. Passenger space in Evoque and Freelander are all but identical, it's the boot which loses some space but it's large enough for our needs. In the rough stuff Evoque would be better (greater departure angles and lighter)
Thanks, a sensible answer instead of being another poster that gets upset at anyone questioning their choice of car.Looks aside, as they are of course subjective (I prefer the FL2's looks to the Evoque), is a £35k Evoque pretty well specified then in terms of things you'd get in a FL2 HSE like Nav, leather, sunroof etc - I'm not sure you can add much to a HSE spec FL2.
Interesting about the interior space, I'd assume the Evoque much much smaller inside from looking at it from the outside, and I'm surprised at the idea of the Evoque being better in the rough, lighter and better departure angles maybe but surely not on the 20" rims and tyres?!
Im having a hard time getting round the prices to be honest.
Wife was keen so we went in an specced one up...£43k for a 2l diesel and delivery not until October! I think I could stomach it better if it at least had the 3.0 in a it but £40k+ for essentially a Freelander in a party frock?
Im sorry, but the same money can get a slightly used but still warranted full fat or sport range rover, so I know wheich Id rather have. Having said that both are due for replacement in less than a year so sinking £45k into an obsolete model would be slightly foolhardy imo.
Upshot is I'll keep with what Ive got for the time being!

Yep,the price is the only thing that grates for me on these at the moment. I realise that they are being marketed as a "premium product" but the price to get one in a decent spec, really is ridiculous. The price you pay for them being the latest fashion item I guess.
I though they were supposed to be pretty well specced even at entry level?Laughable that anything with a RR badge can be marketed as 'premium' given their recent form of making big expensive bits of metal go wrong

The Evoque is just another marketing exercise and can be added to the X3 and Q3. Looks cheap whilst being expensive which seems to be the formula to relieve buyers of their cash...oh but it does have a badge to trade on. In a couple years time finance repo's will be everywhere.

Agreed about the wing mirrors, though. They are obstructive to the point of being dangerous. Something for the facelift!

The Evoque is quite a wide car but inside there really is more space than you'd think (in the 5 door). I think for passengers it's near as damnit the same as a Freelander 2 (it wouldn't surprise me if there was actually more space), which means that it's not far off the RRS, which quite frankly has nowhere near enough space in the rear seats for the size of the vehicle! We also have a 125i cab, which on the outside is the same length as the Evoque but the Evoque has tons more legroom in the back of it!
As far as spec goes - the Evoque is quite well specified as standard but for my £35k, I got a Pure model SD4, auto with tech pack. The tech pack includes NAV, auto lights and wipers (and something else I can't quite remember). I also added powered tailgate, xenons, privacy glass, spare wheel and panoramic roof. All together this came to around £35,300. My car has 18" rims not 20" (can't see the point of huge wheels in general). All cars come with all season tyres, so will be better off-road than you might imagine and way better than my needs which will be to remain mobile in snow and negotiating some grassy/muddy fields.

"Why I bought it" - "style".
If you separate out any Petrolhead snobbishness, SUV Hatred, contempt for the typical demographic, familiarity, jealousy of those spending 40k on a new premium vehicle, then its still a really striking looking car that is selling well and is made in Britain, it is a shame that like the Mini we ended up selling out before we produced these aspirational models.I like the style of the Evoque but its not my "thing", far too trendy, I dont want respect is due off the neighbours or whoever wants one, sometimes I think it may be easier not to be a Petrolhead, knackered old 944 or Evoque, hmm, I suspect the 944 with its legendary handling balance is probably, as a package way less enjoyable in most scenarios than a nicely specced Evoque.

They do appear to be the new fashion item - even round these here parts, the number of Evoques seem to out-number the people who should be able to afford them. Good to see JLR with such a successful product though.
Nice to see one that isn't black or white.
the same story round here(cambridge)theyre bloody everywhere!Nice to see one that isn't black or white.
