Your insurance is very high you need to shop around.
Also seems the routine servicing isn't picking up items which should be fixed as the MOT fail and repair highlights.

Using some quick mental maths, so feel free to correct me, but it seems you have the most economical Corsa in the world. Are you sure that fuel figure is right? Or do you live in the third world

If he's been buying at an average of £1.39 a litre then he's been doing 74mpg according to those figures.

If it makes it any better...

2010 Audi A6 Avant 3.0TDI S-Line (Over 20 months covering 28500 miles)

Fuel: £5160
Insurance: £1388
Servicing: £634
Tyres: £3000
Tax: £395
Depreciation: ~£9000
Finance Cost: £2091

Total = £21668 or 76p a mile... I think your 22p a mile is good going... my fuel cost is that! Well done on the cheap motoring!

It was an ex demo and I don't think it had a gentle first 6k of its life - that meant the tyres were not wonderful when I got it. Just after I replaced the front tyres a piece of metal fell off a lorry in front of me and I ran over losing one new tyre to a puncture. I've then had generally fairly poor tyre life from the car (Conti Sport Contact 3s doing ~10k at the front and 20k at the back). Tracking is fine apparently but I've changed to Sport Contact 5s and the life now seems much more "normal".

So 11 tyres at £272 each or does your car have more wheels than normal?

For the car, 22p per mile sounds perfectly reasonable.
My current Toledo has cost me 28p per mile so far (including reasonabe depreciation and fuel)

My Chimaera cost me £1.54 per mile over the 4.5 years I had it. yikes Worth every penny though. cloud9

Consulting the history...

  • 2 on the front - £445 @ 11k miles
  • Replacement of bust tyre - £211 @ 14k miles, swap of full size spare and other front so I have two new tyres on axle
  • Tyres all round - £1145 @ 22k miles
  • Tyres all round again - £1200 @ 33k miles - new tyre choice made due to what I feel is appalling life to this point
So yeah... 11 tyres sadly. Bit rubbish that in my opinion. I don't even drive particularly hard to be honest. It does seem to be a car that likes its tyres though.

When I first passed my test the fuel prices were £0.89 for about 6 months.
Then I remember it sticking at about £1.18 ish

Then now its around £1.41.

And I did less miles in my first 2 years.

So less miles and not such expensive fuel is the difference.

If i look a my vectra
Bought in November 2006 for £800
Done 74k miles since then so fuel cost of £7658ish (average £1.15perlitre?)
5 MOTs £250ish
8 tyres £560ish
7 services £350ish
Tax £1000
Insurance £1750
Parts over the year i would guess at no more than £500
Total £12868

Or £189permonth

17p per mile

You really need to upgrade to Michelin.

They really do mega miles.

Personae I've done 45k on a set in a Fiat coupe and so far my rears have done nearly 30 k in my 330d with still 5mm remaining.

I used Contis a long time ago same driving style they were ditch finders by 15k...
Go for Michellin and no I don't work for then nor any vested interest I'm converted I was sceptical but have seen the results for myself and had convinced friends and family to try all have seen drastic increases in tyre life. Plus excellent wet stopping distance to boot.

Just done a rough calc on some of my old cars.

Impreza STi - 37p/mile
VX220T - 23p/mile
Corsa - 22p/mile
TTV6 10.5p/mile
120d - 8.3p/mile
ZS - 7.8p/mile
Frontera - 7p/mile

However, I don't care about the cost per mile. All I care about is being able to walk outside to a car I'm proud to own, enjoy whatever drive I'm going on, and listen to the machine tick itself cool once I've finished with it, while smoking a fag and admiring its lines.

My M3 is probably costing me more than the Impreza per mile. However, it'll still be getting wound up to 7800rpm whenever the opportunity arises.
