Couldn't have said it better. Why buy anything else? RB Will said:
Also a Transit would be a lot lighter than one of these.
This is a much better idea for a Ring lap. Might try and beat it it in mine.

8.49 for this heap seems pretty poor.
That`s rich coming from the owner of such a classy stable of classics !The SRT8 does tow - mine has covered thousands of miles with various race and rally cars on behind. Favourite trick is to out drag the local "yoof" in their Saxos and Pugs, 4 up with the rally car on the back !
As a daily driver its very comfortable, reliable, plenty of room for the Spaniel in the back, and quicker cross country than most evos scoobies and hot hatches !
As for Solihulls finest - all very nice, but there is one on every street corner, half a dozen on every school run. Owners even covering them in "bin liner" plastic in the search for exclusivity, the GC SRT8 is less common - in every sence of the word !
In 90,000 miles I have only seen one other example "in the flesh" - parked at the Almatay Intercontinental, Kazaksstan, - and that was a different colour to mine.

I stand corrected - when I was looking I thought the central exhaust precluded a tow bar, and even checking the Jeep web site there was a tow kit for the Hemi but none for the SRT. Ah well, maybe next time Common-or-garden 5.7 still fairly nippy off the line with the Tuscan on the back.tvrolet said:

Oh lordy, the prejudice against 4WD is large again here..
It really is quite sad.
A car that would normally be seen running a dull, boring diesel engine is instead given the joy of a big, lairy V8. Sounds lovely, goes well.
And yet the PH intellectuals with their collective heads up their arses can only criticise it.
Any manufacturer that dares to offer a lairy V8 option over a slow diesel or pretend-to-be-green bks hybrid, deserves applause and congratulations in my book.
Bravo to Jeep for the Grand Cherokee.
Bravo to having the balls to stick up two fingers and sticking a bloody big V8 in it.
It is a marvellous car.
Celebrate it.
If we all end up in co2 restricted hybrids, attitudes like some of the ones shown here will have been party responsible.
Oh and there is a bloody good reason why Jeeps are worth considering over Land Rovers. They are more reliable.
100% agree. You can be assured that it wouldn't be getting half the stick if it weren't an american vehicle. Probably the same bunch who can't face it when a 'vette kicks the butt of much more expensive German and Italian machinery and resort poking fun at it's "cheap interior" or LHD. It really is quite sad.

I don't understand why some people come on PH, how can you call yourself a petrolhead and not like a very silly car being driven very quickly?
I own a 2012 srt8. , currently it's pulling. 0-100 in 4.5 secs, I had topped out yesterday at 260 kph - agreed its not suited to uk as averages around 12 to the gallon but in counties like middle east and also USA where fuel is cheaper it makes sense and is a very good buy
The car is probably one of the best made American cars, I had a vw touareg v8 model for 4 years from new and this out classes it in everyway including build and ride quality.
Plus in a few months when the ecu is cracked for approx 4k you can supercharge this 6.4 hemi to near 700 bhp which will be ridiculous
Agreed its not a track car! Is very heavy but there is not many rs I have been in that an generate 1.2 g off the line which is half the price of cayenne turbo, or x5m

Couldn't have said it better. Why buy anything else? I can't understand why anyone would have a pretend 4x4 such as an X5 or X6 over a Rangie. If it where my money i would have....Oh i dont know!
Possibly the Jeep as it looks less "tosser footballer".

This is interesting. I wouldn't choose to own (what i would call) an inferior car just because I'd owned what (I think is) the best in the class already... But I guess if you don't actually use the 4x4 capabilities then it doesn't matter.
Completely off topic now, but I wonder if anyone actually gains anything by buying an X5 over a 5 series touring, if not going off road? I'm hoping there are actually some reasons other than posing.
Well I'm considering an old style 2005 one at the moment because e61's are so over complex and seem to have lots of electrical problems. With some admittedly poorly researched 'man logic' a 3.0d manual X5 is the sensible economy family choice-well they're just e39's on stilts aren't they? Problem is there's not many around, the sensible side of £10k.Completely off topic now, but I wonder if anyone actually gains anything by buying an X5 over a 5 series touring, if not going off road? So, how do you fit a receiver hitch to this vehicle then?
