We've all seen them. Some supercar in the motorway, being driven at 67mph in the centre or inside lane. With me in the outside lane at Mach1 in a car I'm to embarressed to mention. The question is, why do they bother?

Much harder to clean bugs off the front that have been affixed at 100+

60ish and it's just a gentle wipe

I know trying to put cars into classes has been done to death but I just cant lump a GTR into the same "sports car" category as an MX-5

What class is a 911 Turbo? The GTR should sit with that so probably in the GT category.

The 911 turbo is a supercar.
That is Evo's definition, and one I happen to agree with (mainly because I have one. smile )

ETA - this is a huge can of worms, as there is no definitve answer.

Gf's dad had an R8 for a couple of years, and there were multiple occasions where he was followed by police for short distances(presumably to check his details/insurance/VOSA etc) when he was driving well within the speed limit.

If a relatively understated black R8 attracts that sort of attention when driven normally to work....I'd hate to think of the kind of attention driving down the M4 at 100mph in a brightly coloured fezza or lambo would attract!

In the last 18 months of motorway driving (M25 & M4), I've yet to see a Police Patrol Car or any Speed Cameras on bridges. And the cars I've passed certainly don't look as if they're on the way to/from a circuit for a good thrash. Drivers seem to be mostly suited. And asleep. Agree about the boody stone chips though if you get a move on.

I've always said, if you're going to speed on a motorway, you really want to do it in a silver 2005 Audi A6.
FFS what is it with the A6? smile

Motorway driving is dull. Only stupid people drive really fast in heavy traffic, and apart from footballers most properly dumb folk can't afford supercars.

A good quality car (one I'd generally feel safe doing higher motorway speeds in), fairly non-descript/unnassuming, not likely to incite jealousy with the BiB (and therefore not likely to score highly on their game of snooker).

Why FFS?

Meant in jest - (smile) - there is a lot of S-Line Audi knocking - makes me laugh and especially on this thread there and then! Probably more rhetorical!

Ahh, OK. smile

Definitely not S-Line spec in my example above (plod might have a 'sport' and still be envious of the S-Line)

Base spec on small wheels, with a few dents for good measure.

Just as I said, more interested in polish than driving. smile
