Would these be legal on UK roads?...
The tracks come out further than the body work.

Do you need 'tracked vehicle' on your licence??
If they don't damage the road, i.e. they're rubber, then they're legal to drive on the roads.

If they don't require levers to steer, i.e. skid steer, then they're legal for you to drive on a normal licence.

I'll raise you on the car-to-quad thing, although it's in French.

Indeed, most of it is, but... http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=Chassell,+Michigan...

Definitely was done several years ago and in far more style by the idiot American ken Block driving down a ski slope.

Anyway, for the benefit of everyone fawning over those tracks - do you know how much they cost?

mattracks start from about $20,000 a set for small car ones up to $50,000 for ones suitable for a pickup truck

The ones on the Impreza in the story don't look half as robust or well developed as the mattracks ones, so maybe a bit more sensible money, especially factoring in the exchange rate.

I think any car fitted with them would need new hubs, bearings, and steering racks every other week though.
