There's only a few V12 Ferraris it can go on (post 1999?)and nothing worth anything like that sort of cash with the possible exception of an Enzo. Maybe worth 10k or so at a pinch?
Exactly! I think even £10k is wildly optimistic!Yes was probably a £250 plate when first issued, but if there is someone out there, which there will be, then i'd be chancing it too...

If you had that plate and someone was prepared to buy it for £500k - would you sell it for under £10k?
Of course not, but I doubt there is anyone insane enough and rich enough to spend £500,000 on a rather uninteresting plate. They'd have to be quite rich and quite potty to spend £10,000!LotusOmega375D said:

I could advertise my BIC biro for half a million quid, but I don't expect anyone would buy it.

Nope. Someone bought it at a DVLA auction in December 1999 for £2,000.You can hardly blame them, can you? Regardless if you think they are chancers or not.
Incidently. No, i'm not the one selling the plate BTW!

Sorry, papercut, you haven't grasped this one...auction price of £2k in 1999 indicates true value today probably £5k.
Yes i have grasped it. I don't think you have though! I never said it was worth £500k. I know it's not worth it. You know it's not worth it.But...

People who have £500k in spare cash to spend generally aren't stupid!
You'd be very, very surprised, if that is your view.Vroomer said:

Not a football fan? People who have £500k in spare cash to spend generally aren't stupid!
Mind you, I must be a bit thick as I couldn't work out what the plate actually was and had to read the following posts to realise it was for a Ferrari.
