I'm going to be 39 this year and I have started to notice subtle changes in me where driving is concerned. Is it just a coincidence or are others changing too?

I'll nip for a wee before rushing off somewhere

I'll stop and think 'Hmmm, do I really need to overtake the car in front'?

i can't be arsed cleaning the car as often as I used to

I think a lot more about depreciation and residual values over how cool it looks/fast it goes

Anyone got anything to add?

The PH revolver is on the side table in the billiard room. You know what to do.

You don't need to be getting older for the above to happen (apart from the wee part). Just have two kids instead.

+1

have to agree I drive a lot better when I have the kids in the car. You also find that a diesel estate looks like your ideal car more than the 2 seater sports car!

You end up not giving a toss about the state of it, dints, scratches, unwashed, and the seats covered in juice and crisps and vomit are just part of the fun!!!

Come and have another glass of port - no need to go to the billiard room yet.

You shake your head at all those passing you in the inside lane as you sit in the fast lane at 69.9 mph

What, he could drive at 16 then?

You start keeping things like a small torch, pad and pen and a pack of handy size tissues in the car

You know you are getting old when you would rather listen to a phone in, on the radio in your car, instead of commercial radio.

Despite earning 4 times what I did when I was 18, saving money on fuel and tyres is now more important to me than cornering on the door handles.

I tend to drive at 70 on the motorway and find I don't get to my destination any later. Agh i've turned in to my Dad.

Possibly

Nope still have a beer capacity bladder

Pig Skill said:

Nope - the art of overtaking is dying someone has to fly the flag for a noble cause - if it's in front and slower I'll overtake where possible

Pig Skill said:

I'm not sure I've changed at all in that respect - I still don't like cleaning cars

Depreciation and residual values - whats that!!!

One change I have noticed is I'm a lot more tolerant of other drivers mistakes or badly planned actions - frequently I can almost guess what they are going to do and anticipate it.

I'm handing in my DL and heading for the Billiard room to borrow the revolver when I think I'm now driving like my dad

Simply the wisdom of experience! You've realised that in today's world there are enough idiots on the road without needing to be one of them; that if you drive fast they're going to take your licence away and that you've seen enough accidents to realise an old Mini just folds up on impact!

Well, either that or it's time for a mid-life crisis. Boxster convertible?? smile
