Every now and then I think about changing my current (and much loved) Fiesta ST. Currently I am looking at the Abarth 595 Competizione. Less practical, probably doesn't handle as well, and a bit slower...Yet the noise, the looks, what a wonderful little thing.

Have these shot up in value over the past few years, or have they always been this pricey?! (This is one of the 'cheap' ones)

Two points..

Take a look under the bonnet and see if you can work on it ...and the rust! Nice car but it'll break your heart and bank.. I can remember a time when you couldn't give them away.

Last Summer I saw one identical to that parked up on the grass verge just outside Stratford-on-Avon, the poor thing had expired but looked absolutely stunning.

My current 'daydream' obsession is another mid engined Italian, the Maserati Merak...

Now she's had a taste of a race track; do I make my 145 Cloverleaf faster or buy something faster?

a recent article on here mentioned the lexus isf. a car that i had not noticed before. looks anonymous and has 400bhp. seems to have a reputation for reliability too. not too many for sale and rather rich for me , but i can live in hope smile
One or two come up for sale every now and then for a reasonable price. I miss mine, I also miss my X308 XJR frown
Ended up buying another ISF!

GF bought a 1.6 Stilo saturday, im quite impressed with the value for money in these cars, now considering an abarth as a cheap hot-hatch/interesting engine option.

I’m having one of those weekends where I feel horribly aware that I drive a Skoda superb company car, and it got 2.5 years left to run on the lease. When I feel like this I flir from car to car on autotrader. Since yesterday I have decided I would get...:
Chevrolet Camar
Ford Mustang (last model)
Lotus Elise
Boxster 981s
Boxster 981 2.7
Cayman 981
Lotus exige
997 911 C4S

Bear in mind I don’t have a garage (but do have 2 spaces on my front garden) I doubt i’ll Be getting a Boxster or Elise even when the Skoda goes back (I definitely won’t get another company car as it’s killed my soul!) so I don’t know why I was looking at them.
Ahhh, such a dreamer.

Viewing something v similar to this beauty tomorrow!
I'm sure the car in your pic was for sale around a year ago; remember Harry Metcalfe posting about it on twitter; I was sorely tempted but had to resist. Did you buy the similar thing in the end?

I just bought my Z4 and very happy with it, but viewed a Giulietta 1750 TBI very similar to the below before I found the BMW; drove very well and was almost ready to commit to buying when someone flew in from Ireland to specifically view the car with the dealer and bought it before I could get back to doing a deal. Had never really paid attention to them before but this was a lovely example.

As was I, it took me several months of saving (and a good chunk of savings) plus spending as little as possible and a bit of looking for the right interior (black over ivory with walnut inlay) -

My daily (a smidgen under three hundred miles a week). First thing I did was pull the fuse for the aerial.

Biggest expense so far has been tyres on the 20" Senta alloys at a touch under £700 for a full set, I wanted 18's but the only ones I could find had the biscuit/silver combination yuck . Needs the gearbox serviced (next time I'm on holiday, so not long, it's going up to Newcastle to Austrin Engineering) plus a diff fluid change (next service toward the end of the year). I didn't like it at first but it's grown on me to the point the only cars I'd willingly swap it for are an XK-R (4.2 version, the plastic injectors horror stories/looks of the 5 don't do it for me) or a VVC equipped Lotus Elise S2.

I had a nearly new one of these (Abarth) but it went back to the Fiat dealer because it had a catastrophic irreparable (apparently) oil leak. Also had the most uncomfortable seats I ever sat in (the looked great but were awful). Loved the 5 cylinder off beat quattro type burble though (that was the main reason i bought it)

Lovely cars, and underrated in my opinion.
Nearly bought one, didn't quite have the space I needed for a daily driver, but I loved the one I tried. I still think it's an itch I'll have to scratch one day.

I did indeed get a GTA replica with a 2 litre Nord fitted.

Man, rich people have all the luck. Put almost 20,000 miles on something as magnificent as this and still sell it for a profit.

Further to my previous post in this thread I’ve got to buy a car in the next 5 weeks. I’ve obsessed over everything, I’ve got a £20k budget and want something reasonably fast, reasonably economical and reasonably practical. Have gone from 4 series coupes, to 4 series GCs, to 3 series, 5 series, c63’s, A5’s, S4’s. I can car shop all day long when I’ve got no money but now can’t find anything I want!
