I've been quite liking the look of the facelift TTS which got leaked a few hours ago. Subtle changes but freshens it up nicely. Now just to decide between this or the new Z4 in a few months...

I have for a while been idly considering what to get as a replacement for my Mondeo 2.5T Estate.

Yesterday I realised that the Audi S4 Avant (B8) comes with a manual option (I'd previously discounted it as I thought they were all auto-only), and is only 4mpg worse on extra-urban (and the same on urban) but has an extra cylinder and 100hp more. smile

Downside is the newest ones appear to be 7 years old still (I'd rather something 4-5 years old) and it's the highest tax bracket.

I think I'm going to have to find one to take a look/test drive.
I obsess about these too but they apparently attract thieves like moths to a flame.

I'll admit that the Merc will cost a bunch more to run, but still...
That is amazing value. £25k?!

How about a w124 estate. There must be good ones out there. A fully restored one would be great

Basically I want this
https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201...

But someone is going to view it on Friday and I hope they don't buy it.

Otherwise I'll be getting this, which has covered double the miles.

Currently obsessively scouring the interwebs for 430Ds and it's driving me nuts.

Just put my 428i up for sale and am obsessing over the E92 M3. Love the 428i but have wanted a full-fat M car for ages.

I didn't know why but the r36 Passat b6 dsg saloon is something I can't stop looking at on autotrader. I have absolutely no reason to have it. By all accounts my GS is comfier, has more kit, is just as expensive to run, is the same shape etc etc. Only thing the Passat has is it's quicker off the line and is awd. That's it. So why can't I stop lusting after one? If anything i'd need the estate but the saloon is the one I can't keep my eyes off. What's wrong with me?!

Going off topic, how do you find the 428i? I’m going between coupe and GC on a daily basis and would happily take a 428i. Nearly as fast as the diesel, perhaps not as smooth but I swore I wouldn’t get another oil burner!

Having had my Daimler V8 written off and finally getting the insurance payout sorted I have started looking for a replacement.

Today’s obsession is ........ a Morris Minor!

It depends where you live, I live in an pretty decent area but it's not *that* far to some dodgy ones and about halfway between two areas known for being hotbeds of car crime... Still overall you'd have to be unlucky.

It certainly isn't as subtle like the Mondeo though (which to 99.9% of people looks like your boggo derv Mondeo estate).

Still seriously considering one. Insurance is only £200 more a year and you can get a tow bar for them.

Something like this one (although this specific one seems a bit overpriced to me from looking at similar on autotrader and that the insurance quote valued it 5k cheaper).

I’m lucky enough to already own a W124 E320 Sportline, fully restored, and with the factory fitted AMG kit, making it nicely offensive to old Merc snobs. Pic below.

Nice thing, but dog slow, appalling fuel economy, and absolutely none of the amazing wizardry that modern cars come with. No thanks, as a daily driver.

I think the CLS will sit well as a daily, with the old banger below for sunny days?

Having run an Aston for years, I really can’t cope with the rubbish engineering and appalling running costs anymore! My V8V is a good one, and I have still spent thousands getting it into proper shape. Beautiful and beguiling - but horribly flawed as ownership prospects. And AM dealers/specialists are terrible (at least in London)

Do you need the boot? If not then surely you would be happier in an Arnage?

I love it mate. It looks great, it's pretty quick (0-60 in 5.8 seconds even for the manual), comfortable yet sporty and taut feeling, economical and handles superbly with tons of grip and then a nice, progressive oversteer if really provoked (and the TC is off). Sounds good for a straight 4 as well even with the stock exhaust.

I'll really miss mine but will just have to console myself with the idea that hopefully next year I could get the M3...

Not sas smooth?
It is far smoother than the 30d imho.

The 28i and now the 30i is one of my favourite BMWs over the last 15 years or so.

The 35i I had was just not that rewarding, great effortless motorway cruiser, but not that rewarding as power is there no matter what the rev range.

The 28i was great as it always had plenty of power, was more refined than any diesel when pootling around, and you still had to work it a little when having fun so it felt rewarding.

Following the demise of my MG ZT V6 I have been looking at these...

...sensible family car with turbo power, classic insurance and zero/negative depreciation. Also getting rare because the 620/820 turbos were used as donors due to being better built than the 220/420's. wink
