So what car have you been obsessing about today?? (Vol 2)
Discussion
Built my Fisher Fury R1 in 2007 and currently obsessing over the engine and giving it a bit of TLC. 165bhp in a package where the engine AND gearbox weigh just 60kg and it revs to 12,000rpm. The whole car weighs 450kg with half a tank of fuel. You don't drive it, you put it on. Currently installing new alternator coils and clutch plates.

Lincoln Continental Mark V.
6 meters long. 6.6l or 7.5l engine ripping out either 150 or 200hp. Some german car magazine tested it back in the day and noted it was was the least fuel efficient car they had ever tested. Like a lot of cars, pictures don't do the thing justice - they are amazingly long and have a surprisingly low roof line.
Then I start looking up crate engines, like this ATK 502cid engine from Summit Racing with 515hp, or even this Ford Performance 572cid donk with 655hp.
Why does it make so little power for such a large engine? 6 meters long. 6.6l or 7.5l engine ripping out either 150 or 200hp. The Suez oil crisis and emissions regulations in the States mainly. Lower power meant better emissions and 'better' fuel economy.
Why didn't they put in a 6 cyl 3.2 litre in and make some real savings? Bizarre. Offer them a V6 and they'll spit in your face.

I thought Barry White did an SMC Continental but had a Google and couldn't find it. Meh. I like the idea though. 6 meters long. 6.6l or 7.5l engine ripping out either 150 or 200hp. This is more of a confession than obsession today. I recently did the sill ends on my mates VW Beetle...

...it had the 8V Golf Gti engine and I have been thinking about a 2.0 tfsi transplant sleeper since.

Yes it maybe on your drive but is it yours or somebody else's?I have a chum with a Zagato DB4 & replica D-Type Jaaag. & they are often on my drive!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry just taking the ....
Enjoy the lovely car.
Still looking for a manual, petrol, fast and good handling estate that can tow...
I think I may have found one.

Slight issue of it being a limited edition JDM only version though, a guesstimation makes it 84 cars made in the spec I'd want.

I'm currently playing my quarterly game of trying to decide if I need a new car (I don't....but hey).
M2, 981 Boxster/Cayman S or 718 Boxster/Cayman S.
I know if I get through the next few weeks without test driving any of them or going to a garage to look at one, i'll be ok but I currently feel like I'm in the first of the 7 stages. At least I admit I have a problem I suppose.
Arrrgghhh!

Been thinking about a bigger/faster family/daily (found a readers car thread on a C63 AMG Estate )
But got home and gave the golf a wash and thought if its not broken dont fix it.
As much as I would love something faster, the Golf does everything I need it to in day to day life and can pack up the family & dog and go away for the weekend.
