The new Porsche Taycan. Fully prepared to be lambasted.
Why? It will be dam fast and probably drive better than any EV before it. Plus be better built than a certain companies offerings. I have my name down for 2. But if there isn’t a decent charging network I will be baking out.

But will it be fun? Interactive? The things that Porsche has built its reputation on? I’m unconvinced.I have my name down for 2. But if there isn’t a decent charging network I will be baking out.

Having sold my Giulia QF and bought an MX5 runaround, I still have lots and lots of equity that's just hit my bank account. The missus is not going to be happy with my plan for it but I've obsessed over these for 25 years...
I asked my wife a while back what car she *wanted* (ie if all the boring things like practicality, reliability and running costs were off the table). She said she wanted an RX-7. Nerdherder said:
Heh that's fun, this is where I landed again after looking at German prices for today's shed of the week. Not much in it between a (tidy) E46 330i and the Z4C. IMO another one destined to become a (minor?) classic. Great engine, styling that ages well, fairly limited production volume. And an NA inline 6 in a light coupé -- not coming back anytime soon sadly... ntiz said:

Yes I know it’s just a Ford Focus which is left behind Morden hot hatches, not particularly powerful for the size of engine or the fuel consumption but I’ve lusted after a silver ST3 since the top gear film on them about 10 years ago, and the facelift just made the want more, nearly bought one and chickened out and got a fiesta ST instead. I have no need for another car, but god the want is still strong.
Utterly perfect in my eyes.

TDV8 Rangie.
My commute has very recently been slashed from 80 miles /day to 10 miles /day so naturally that warrants a car change.
Every time I try to look at anything else, something in my head just goes "nah" and I end up back looking at these things.
If I buy one it'll end one of two ways;
- Soul crushing, wallet rending disappointment
- The best value, most satisfying, gratifying motoring experience of my life
Either way, I'll have scratched the itch, so I think it's got to happen now.
