More to that car than meets the eye, it's not just a little bit of lowering, the Austin body is on a VW Beetle floor pan.

Not my thing at all but I appreciate the engineering involved with marrying to two. Much like the Type 2 detectives MK3 Golf that is a VW Beetle underneath.

Not too much engineering really.

A VW beetle floorpan is easily removed (or purchased brand new in fact) all the oily bits are mounted on the chassis.

You'll be able to remove the Allegro body from the floorpan by lifting it by the door handles. 40 years of corrosion will do the rest.

A couple of hours with a mig welder and you'll have something comparable.

To each his own, as they say. It's not for me though.

Obviously, that’s why I left both together and not just the shopped one. I didn’t know where to put it as I have never seen the well photoshopped thread haha.

Add various body panels and get a F40 replica

It's silly, but its done I assume with a knowing wink. So it qualifies as Decently modified smile

I do think the wheels are too big - but I could happily live with that cloud9

Agreed...I think it would look better with small diameter rear wheels and fatter profile tyres (pro mod style)... the current rears are 24 x 15's yikes

yes Stick widened replicas of the original (steel?) wheels on it and raise it a bit (although I assume it's on air rather than being driven like that?) and it'd be lovely.

That Allegro thing is st.
I can't understand why anyone would want to use a Beetle chassis and running gear. It's hardly known for its handling, comfort, power, driveability, etc.

Maybe put a Beetle body on something better, if that's your thing.

Yes, that does look good (apart from the rear of the sill which looks as thought there is a piece missing - might look better if the intake was body coloured?)
