So much that I should dislike about this but.. actually think it's pretty cool
More to that car than meets the eye, it's not just a little bit of lowering, the Austin body is on a VW Beetle floor pan. Edited by Sk00p on Wednesday 13th December 20:30
Not my thing at all but I appreciate the engineering involved with marrying to two. Much like the Type 2 detectives MK3 Golf that is a VW Beetle underneath.

Not too much engineering really. Not my thing at all but I appreciate the engineering involved with marrying to two. Much like the Type 2 detectives MK3 Golf that is a VW Beetle underneath.
A VW beetle floorpan is easily removed (or purchased brand new in fact) all the oily bits are mounted on the chassis.
You'll be able to remove the Allegro body from the floorpan by lifting it by the door handles. 40 years of corrosion will do the rest.
A couple of hours with a mig welder and you'll have something comparable.
To each his own, as they say. It's not for me though.

Take a Mazda Autozam Kei Car
Add various body panels and get a F40 replica
It's silly, but its done I assume with a knowing wink. So it qualifies as Decently modified

that's BL engineering at it's finest. A VW beetle floorpan is easily removed (or purchased brand new in fact) all the oily bits are mounted on the chassis.

I can't understand why anyone would want to use a Beetle chassis and running gear. It's hardly known for its handling, comfort, power, driveability, etc.
Maybe put a Beetle body on something better, if that's your thing.
