Considering how many laps Sabine has done and her incredible knowledge of the ring having done 20K+ laps! (and how many performance cars and bikes she passed in that Transit) I'd be happy enough were I to beat that time as a novice.
Agreed.

It’s one thing it being your first time there and being content in yourself that you were just faster than a diesel van. It’s kind of been the benchmark ever since the Top Gear piece.

It’s another to proudly state it on a forum and deliberately send it in to national press saying about overtaking Mustangs and 911GT3s in your track weapon.

Why not just let it rest.

There were over 10 posts chatting about it I was just continuing the discussion. Happy to call it quits if everyone else is done with it.

To sum up. I liked the look of the car, sits nicely (see I’m not all bad), the mention of the Ring time made me think I was missing something and that it was a small engined one with some decent hidden mods so checked out the linked thread about it, left a bit disappointed and confused as to the mention of the ring time

Can you point me towards this bit?

Edit: never mind, just seen the pic of the magazine piece.

It could have been worse. He might have gone onto an international Internet forum boasting about his lap times, but no one would do that......

Err her did. That’s what started all this.
Not sure you can call what I did boasting. I made no mention of what I had achieved until specifically asked for the info.

In the thread he linked about the car he put a page from a magazine up. Maybe national publication rather than press would have been a better word.

Anyway I thought we were leaving this?

What times have you done around the ring in lightly modded cars then?
9.05-9.10 in a bog standard 2004 automatic, Subaru Legacy. Less power than the BM. And in period (2005) tyres with a passenger.

9.01 in a 2002 Corolla TSport. Had back seats taken out but otherwise standard and maybe even downgraded as had budget tyres on it!

8.24 in a 1996 Impreza with big brakes, again talking 2004-2006 tyres. Only had about 230-240bhp

The circuit has also changed and gotten faster since those times.

Hence my surprise at the modded 330 being comfortably slower.
Amazing. It’s a shame you didn’t work for Subaru as you probably were faster than their works driver, especially with your budget tyres.

Why the hostility sweetie? Also the budget tyres were on the Toyota.
Also I’m probably not anywhere near as quick as anyone’s works/test driver. Happily take the job if you can put a word in with anyone though hehe

Indeed. I really can't understand why people get so carried away. Just enjoy your car for what it is, without making ridiculous statements. That GT3 was probably capable of going around a full TWO MINUTES faster than the poster's best lap; but sure he was definitely dicing with it on the limit in his modded estate. laugh

That really is lovely, the colour shouldn't work but just does.
